Theatre Professional Nurse

**Position Overview**: We are seeking a dedicated Theatre Professional Nurse to join our team at the new Mveledzo Day Hospital in Thohoyandou. The role involves providing specialized nursing care within the operating theatre, ensuring patient safety, and supporting surgical teams during procedures.
- **Key Responsibilities**:

- Assisting in preparing operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring cleanliness and availability of necessary equipment and supplies.
- Collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care during surgeries.
- Monitoring patients' vital signs, anesthesia administration, and intraoperative care, maintaining accurate records throughout procedures.
- Assisting with patient positioning, prepping surgical sites, and sterile instrument handling according to protocol.
- Providing immediate post-operative care, monitoring patients in recovery, and responding to emergent situations as needed.
- Adhering to infection control protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements in the operating theatre.
- Participating in continuous quality improvement initiatives, including instrument sterilization processes and equipment maintenance.
- Providing education to patients and families regarding preoperative and postoperative care instructions.

**Qualifications and Requirements**:

- Registered Nurse qualification with current registration and practicing license.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in perioperative nursing or theatre nursing.
- Proficiency in sterile techniques, operating room protocols, and surgical equipment usage.
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, prioritize tasks, and ensure patient safety during surgical procedures.
- Knowledge of infection control practices, anesthesia administration, and patient monitoring during surgery.
