We are seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Health & Safety Officer who will be responsible to ensure our plant has full compliance with the OHSAct, GMP, HACCP and related legislation. This role requires expert knowledge and the ability to plan, implement, monitor and review proactive and preventative measures.

**KEY** RESPONSIBILITIES

**1. Safety**
- Manage all aspects of Safety policies, procedures, processes, and standards.
- Continuous engagement with all teams to maintain and continuously improve the well-established safety culture.
- Ensure industry and global best practices are followed in all SHE elements and provide support to management teams and department managers.
- Develop and maintain SHE plans across the business.
- Monthly safety reporting and global group alignment.

**2. Health Systems**
- Manage all aspects of Health policies, procedures, processes, and standards and alignment to legislation.

**3. Environmental**
- Manage all aspects of Environmental policies, procedures, processes, and standards and compliance to all relevant legislation.

**4. Systems**
- Oversee the Quality Management System document control.
- Manage GMP & HACCP processes and standards.

**5. General**
- Embrace Kaizen principles and encourage continual improvement and 5S projects.
- Coordinate training on Health & Safety, Risk, Environmental practices to align with industry best practices.
- Stay up to date with South African legislation and best practices, providing leadership and coaching on SHEQ activities.
- Coordinate and conduct training on BRC awareness and related procedures.
- Maintain effective communication with internal departments, customers, and suppliers to ensure objectives are met.

**REQUIREMENTS**
- Grade 12 qualification.
- Minimum of 5+ years of production environment experience.
- Strong organizational understanding.
- Expert knowledge of OHSAct, supported by related courses and qualifications.
- Previous experience in implementing and maintaining health & safety systems.
- Previous experience in maintaining quality certification systems. (advantageous)
- BRC certification and/or related courses (advantageous)
