Minimum requirements:

- Grade 12 essential
- NQF4 Short Term Insurance qualification required
- RE5 essential
- Minimum 5 years’ commercial underwriting experience essential
- Exposure to auditing of underwriting procedures, underwriting rating, policy wording and portfolio management required
- Tial Connect system experience and knowledge advantageous
- Portfolio management experience advantageous
- Binder audit experience beneficial
- Experience in product development cycle will be an advantage

**Responsibilities**:

- Conduct audits to ensure continued adherence to SLA’s with Insurers and company processes from an underwriting and claims perspective
- Manage the profitability of underwriting facilities granted by Product Suppliers
- Provide technical underwriting support to short term insurance advisers and internal staff
- Conduct monthly audits on underwriting activities - new business, endorsements, amendments, reinstatements, renewals, pro-active analysis to determine trends and potential risks/losses to increase profitability
- Conduct multi-claimant report analysis, propose and implement actions
- Conduct portfolio analysis and improve underwriting margins
- Risk exposure analysis to mitigate Insurer’s risks
- On-site audits at branches when required
- Telephone quality assurance audits
- Assist advisers with technical product and underwriting queries
- Assist management with product development from underwriting perspective
- Provide support to Commercial Lines Business Analyst
- Provide support to National Trainer to ensure hight quality training material
- Assist in drafting internal communication
- Ensure complaints are analysed to identify product gaps
- Assist with binder audits from Insurers
- Provide support to manager in formulating business cases and proposals to improve commercial underwriting mandated and product offering
- Compile product comparisons to support quality advise
