We are currently looking for a Regional Compliance Manager. The Regional Compliance Officer is to assist and ensure that the region for which the job holder is responsible for adheres to legal standards, company

The Regional Compliance Officer will support the region with Thorburn’s legal and statutory compliance and managing all aspects of the Integrated Management System, ensuring compliance with the ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 standards.
The exclusion of responsibility in terms of Thorburn’s compliance for the Regional Compliance Officer is Firearm Compliance and PSIRA Compliance which are managed by the appointed Firearm Compliance Officer and regional HRM respectively.
**Duties & Responsibilities**:**
HEALTH AND SAFETY**
- Review and ensure compliance of Thorburn’s obligations and responsibilities regarding the OHS Act and statutory requirements. Ensure that all mechanisms, policies and procedures are in place.
- Emergency and Disaster Preparedness: Ensure that the appropriate policies and procedures are in place and that staff are provided with the necessary mentoring and training on an ongoing basis. Ensure a constant state of readiness to respond to all emergencies is maintained.
- Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines.
- Enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety.
- Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
- Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
- Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and conducting audits on workplaces.
- Inspect the workplace to observe possible unsafe conditions.
- Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes.
- Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
- Ensure the relevant regional office complies with applicable SHE legal and other requirements.
- Ensure all Thorburn-related HSE incidents are recorded and closed on the Incident Register on Sharepoint.
- Compile and maintain the SHE system (HSE file) at the regional office and on customer sites.
**GROUP & THORBURN GOVERNANCE/COMPLIANCE**
- Assist with the implementation of control systems to prevent or deal with violations of legislation (including POPIA, PAPA, etc.), legal guidelines and internal policies.
- Assist with the evaluation of the controls efficiency and improve them continuously.
- Revise the regions’ procedures, reports etc. periodically to identify hidden risks or non-conformity issues.
- Assist with the implementation of company policies as part of control measures for compliance-related matters.
- Collaborate with supporting departments to monitor enforcement of standards and regulations.
- Provide advice and training with regards to compliance matters.
**ISO**
- Assist and support the maintaining of the Integrated Management System (IMS) at the relevant regional office and sites.
- Provide assistance to the departments to ensure compliance to the ISO requirements.
- Ensure that nonconformances and observations are recorded on the CAR system, actioned and preventive measures implemented.
**ISO 9001; 14001 & 45001 - Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety Standards**
- Adhere to the Thorburn Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) Management System’s Policies and Procedures as applicable to this position.
- Ensure annual compliance through active involvement on regional level
**Skills and Competencies**:
- At least 2 years’ experience in a SHEQ-related role
- Effectively and efficiently work under tight deadlines
- Manage multiple priorities utilizing strong time management and project tracking skills
- Work collaboratively with diverse, multi-location teams in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage a number of projects and initiatives simultaneously Knowledge of: South African security and events legislation | Operational Policy and procedures | HR Policy and procedures | Health and Safety legislation
**Qualifications**:
- Grade 12
- SAMTRAC qualification would be preferable
- Formal training in Safety, Health, Environment and Quality
- Computer proficient in MS office package
- Training in ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 S
