**Main purpose of the job**:

- To ensure smooth and efficient day-to-day operations for research management activities by coordinating, implementing, and monitoring the progress of research activities initiated from the Research Office; with a strong focus on data management

**Location**:

- **Wits Donald Gordon Medical Centre, Parktown - Johannesburg**

**Key performance areas**:

- To provide staff support and guidance to ensure they carry out their roles efficiently and effectively
- Design, plan, and implement research projects
- Ensure that critical research data is confidential and POPIA compliant
- Ensure compliance with research protocols, and monitor the progress of research projects
- Plan the database and work closely with investigators and team to understand project goals
- Respond to study-related data management requests
- Conduct general research Office administration
- Supervise data collection
- Develop and maintain relationships with collaborators and researchers, staff, and research participants
- Data Management - expertise in REDCap is essential; Study set-up, design, database integrity, data storage, and sharing; analytic skills preferable (STATA, SAS, Python, R, or equivalent)

**Required minimum education and training**:

- Degree in Health Sciences
- Postgraduate training in data management and managerial skills is preferable

**Required minimum work experience**:

- Minimum 2 years of database management experience in medical/health sciences

**Professional body registration body**:

- Relevant professional body registration

**Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities**:

- Excellent organizational/administrative/analytical skills
- Attention to detail
- Critical thinking and problem-solving
- Ability to work under pressure and capable of effective time management
- Excellent communication ability both verbal and written
- Desire to perform accurate and ethical research
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate on a professional level with all levels of staff
- Be able to use advanced features of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint - as a minimum
