**About this role**

We are looking for an Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) and Risk specialist to provide management over all ESG and Risk matters in our group of companies.

This role will report to Mulilo’s CFO and collaborate closely with external stakeholders and Owners.

**Duties and responsibilities**

Environmental and Social Governance Responsibilities

**Due Diligence and Procurement (pre-FID)**
- Assist in incorporating ESG template clauses and negotiating procurement and project supply agreements.
- Align with Mulilo’s ESG standards as a reference framework, overseeing and reviewing due diligence findings preceding FID/construction.
- Evaluate and advise on mitigation or management plans for identified ESG risks.
- Review final investment decision presentations.

**Construction and Operations (post-FID)**
- Continuously assess asset compliance with Mulilo’s specific ESG standards and offer guidance if issues or trends are identified.
- Advise on specific ESG incident responses and prevention strategies (e.g., safety, environmental, regulatory incidents).
- Facilitate strategic sustainability initiatives on-site across Mulilo’s portfolio, focusing on waste reduction, decommissioning plans, supplier engagement, and H&S programs.
- Collaborate closely with local portfolio companies and project partners for successful delivery of ESG projects

**Reporting / Other**
- Strengthen Mulilo’s ESG and sustainability data framework by consolidating and managing project
- and portfolio-level data.
- Streamline and expand Mulilo’s ESG reporting processes, from project/investment to stakeholders.
- Prepare sustainability disclosures under applicable regulations and assist in crafting Mulilo’s annual sustainability report.
- Keep abreast of ESG reporting developments and ensure Mulilo remains at the forefront of sustainability reporting initiatives.
- Develop training materials and educational presentations for Mulilo staff.
- Foster best practices adoption by effectively communicating and coaching across the business.

**Risk Management Responsibilities**
- Advise, control and challenge the first line of defence when it comes to identifying, measuring, managing and monitoring relevant risks towards Mulilo.
- Support the first line of defence in the handling strategy of risks exceeding the risk appetite.
- Establish policies and procedures to be run in Mulilo
- Develop and run the Enterprise Risk Management Framework for Mulilo
- Plan and execute recurring risk workshops with relevant internal stakeholders.
- Ensure implementation of an efficient and effective incident management culture
- Ensure that all issues e.g. from auditors, ESG reports etc. are being tracked to completion
- Provide effective and efficient awareness training across Mulilo
- Produce risk reports to Mulilo Board of Directors, Risk and Audit Committee and Owners’ Senior Management

**Main stakeholders**
- Direct reporting line to Mulilo CFO
- Development Project team, Construction Management and Asset Management team
- Owners & other external stakeholders and;
- Possibly, local governmental authorities, regulators and other partners

**Required skills and education background.**
- Relevant qualification in Business Administration/Law/Social/Economic Science or Development Studies
- 5+ years’ experience in a similar position, ideally in an international organisation.
- Experience from a risk function in either the financial or the energy sector is an advantage.
- Robust experience to ensure a value adding managing of risks in a financial, fast growing, project-based, global organization
- Financial and legal literacy, including contract comprehension.
- Ability to engage with a large variety of employees, project stakeholders and senior executives.
- Experience from project management, risk, audit, compliance or ESG and familiarity with large project development, illiquid assets management, due diligence or asset management processes
- High integrity and positive attitude
- A great team-player and high energy level, willing to do hands-on work (currently the role is an individual contributor role with substantial indirect leadership required)
- Excellent organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize effectively and independently
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to details
- Determined, structured, and likes to work in an international, fast paced environment,
- Proficient in data manipulation, analysis, and spreadsheet utilization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Passionate about ESG principles
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence without direct authority.
- Excellent presentation skills across various levels, including local community meetings, board-level presentations, and press relations.
