Aerial Sensor Operator

**Responsibilities**:

- Perform necessary flight planning as per job specification in conjunction with the pilot.
- Inform the pilot of the planned size and expected flight duration for the project.
- Liaise with staff, clients and foreign representatives in a professional manner at all times.
- Abide by the pilots instruction regarding safety.
- Perform functionality checks or ground runs prior to the survey flight.
- Ensure satellite predictions and checks are carried out during the survey flight.
- Direct air crew during the survey flight.
- Perform coverage checks of data flown.
- Download and back up raw field data for processing.
- Complete log sheets neatly and thoroughly.
- Package field data in as per processing department requirements.
- Log non conformances and incidents on company system.
- Keep abreast of new software releases for field equipment.
- Be prepared at all times to travel for extended periods.
- Train new aircraft system engineers as per department SOP.
- Liaise with processors to ensure that data handover is complete and to standard and assist with queries in this regard.
- Perform ground control for projects if and when required.

Qualifications:

- Basic experience of Information Technology with fault finding skills on hardware and software.
- Computer literacy
- Basic experience of electronics

Key skills:

- Willing to learn
- Must be able to travel for extended periods in mainly Africa
- Team player
- Technical attributes to install and de-install sensors and cameras
