**Job Purpose**:
The Department of Transport and Public Works, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to assist with the effective regulation of Public Transport Services and the effective implementation of Legislative requirements. This post is based in Athlone (Vangate).

**Minimum Requirements**:
An appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma/B-Degree or higher); A minimum of 3 years relevant supervisory/administrator level experience; A valid code B (or higher) driving license. Note: People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities but have reasonable access to transport may also apply.

**Key Performance Areas**: Advise and make recommendations on matters referred to the Registrar relating to the exercise or performance of the Registrar's powers and duties; Undertake any investigation and report its findings and recommendations to the Registrar; Mediate in conflict situations between association and operators; Represent the Office of the Registrar on project management teams, Inter-governmental meetings and workshops dealing with the transformation of the public transport system and public transport matters; Monitor compliance with the code of conduct and the constitution and to hold hearings where there is non-compliance; Liaise with municipalities and other government departments to obtain information required to make informed decisions; Assist with the following: The capacitating of municipalities on regulatory processes, transport legislation and associated regulations and to outline the role of the municipality in the regulatory process; The education of the industry on regulatory processes, transport legislation and associated regulations.
**Competencies**:
Knowledge of the following: Inter-governmental relations; Communication, media management, public relations, public participation and public transport; Records management; Office administration; Minibus taxi industry; Criminal Procedure Act; Anti
- Corruption and Fraud Legislation. Skills needed: Communication (Written and verbal); Conflict management; Analysis. Ability to work in a team and handle conflict situations.

**Remuneration**:
R 393 711 per annum (Salary Level 9)

**Notes**:
The successful incumbent must comply with the Impartiality clauses as defined in the National Land Transport Act, (Act 5 of 2009), Chapter 2, Section 13.1.(a-e) and 13.2.
