**Purpose**: The incumbent needs to ensure the safe and efficient operation of a machine on which competency was achieved ensuring a high quality product with low wastage within set parameters. Ensure that they will be responsible for and continually strive to do their part to endure that only a safe, quality product, that meets all applicable standards and requirements is manufactured.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Grade 12
- 3 years relevant experience in a Packaging environment
- 2 years experience in operating specific process/ machines

**Skills Required**:

- Computer literacy is advantageous
- Good administration skills

**Job Summary**:

- Ensure quality checks are done & recorded on a daily basis, on the quality control sheets in line with the procedure.
- Have a basic knowledge of the product to ensure adherence to specification
- Participate in MDWT and ensure the boards are updated accordingly
- Changeover of machines according to set works procedures to enable the machines to handle various product sizes and flavours.
- Carry out pre-start-up checks to ensure smooth start-up and operation of machines.
- Set-up and operation of Printer Code System to ensure correct date coding according to set standards.
- Measure, record and control all packaging parameters (including wastage) to keep them within set specifications in order to maintain the high quality standards. (Preventive and corrective actions are required to keep the packaging process under control)
- Complete all Process control checks to enable product traceability according.
- Set-up and monitor relevant inspection equipment to ensure that product is checked and rejected correctly in order to minimise wastage.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to do problem solving in order to minimise machine downtime and waste.
- Conduct first line maintenance on the machine.
- Verify all dry goods against order and ensure the return thereof.
- Ensure adherence to Health and Safety principals.
- Perform and monitor cleaning procedures on machines to ensure a clean, safe and hygienic product and working environment.
