Junior Project Manager

As the junior digital project manager, you will lead the website content management team to ensure our digital projects exceed expectations. Your responsibilities will include managing detailed project plans, budgets, and timelines, as well as optimising operational processes to keep our work running smoothly.
Our Cape Town agency is looking for a proactive, detail-driven junior digital project manager to become an essential part of our development department. In this role, you will manage CMS operations, ensuring seamless updates and efficient workflows. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate closely with our lead digital project manager on exciting projects that shape the digital landscape for some of South Africa’s biggest brands.
**Key role and responsibilities**:
Have a solid understanding of platforms and technologies used by the team.
Act as the primary point of contact for updates, integrations, or leaflet requirements.
Be capable of uploading content and publishing via the CMS.
Take full ownership of multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with all requirements.
Define project scopes and draft functional specification documents for the development team.
Create and manage project briefs to guide the development process.
Collaborate with the digital design, development, and client IT teams to meet all digital asset needs.
Collect and interpret client feedback, translating it into actionable tasks.
Assign tasks and allocate resources efficiently.
Create and manage detailed project timelines with key milestones.
Plan and execute product and website testing for quality assurance before releases.
**eCRM project management**:
Oversee the creation, development, and delivery of direct client communications.
Ensure efficient turnaround from design to final product for communications.
Maintain data hygiene and ensure compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) when handling data.
**People management**:
Collaborate with clients, IT, and internal teams to address technical challenges in content delivery.
Attend and contribute to client and internal meetings and presentations.
Build strong relationships internally, externally, and with third-party professionals.
Handle quick-turnaround requests from clients, ensuring expectations are met.
Provide daily updates and liaise with clients and internal teams on project status and opportunities.
Participate in internal meetings with account managers, designers, developers, and other stakeholders.
**Finance management**:
Ensure cost estimates and purchase orders (POs) are prepared and billed in conjunction with finance billing timings.
Monitor and maintain billing instructions and forecasts.
Work with finance teams to ensure all internal and client tools and platforms are billed and renewed in a timely manner.
**Minimum relevant experience required**:
Understanding of web-friendly formats, specifications, and requirements.
Professional experience in website content management and maintenance or in an online, digitally related field.
Understanding of the digital ecosystem and digital platforms outside of websites (e.g. WhatsApp, social platforms).
Team and people management experience.

Strong organisational skills, especially regarding team and time management.
Excellent communication skills for explaining technical site issues to non-technical teams.
A love for problem-solving and lateral thinking.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently under tight timelines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining communication and attention to detail.
Excellent command of the English language—both verbal and written.
**Minimum education requirements**:
High school qualification is a minimum requirement.
Completed diploma in project management or a relevant technology field.
At least two years’ experience in a project management role for a development team, agency, or division.
