Maintenance Manager

Implement and maintain an effective Preventative Maintenance schedule for all factory equipment to minimise down time. The Maintenance Manager reports to the General Manager.

**Responsibilities Include**:

- Lead and support the maintenance team ensuring adequate training is in place, processes are in place and appraisals are carried out.
- Continuously identify opportunities for improvement in services, products and systems to secure maximum efficiencies.
- Developing & managing maintenance services budgets. Insourcing as much as possible to reduce costs.

Liaising with contractors when required and establishing and maintaining service contracts.
- Ensures maintenance compliance to statutory Health & Safety regulation.
- Responsible for managing maintenance and project priorities and scheduling of workloads for subcontractors.
- Management of the unit access procedures for staff & sub-contractors, including assessment of method statements and risk assessments where required.
- Observe the safety standards and procedures of the unit at all times and ensures that they are maintained in order to safeguard the safety of staff, visitors and installations.
- Co-ordination of agreed expenditure with the General Manager.

Undertake special ad hoc projects as required/necessary.

**Work Experience**:
**Technical Skills: (Certification, Licenses and Registration)**
- Good understanding of Local regulations and an understanding of how the legislation is enforced.

**Resource Management**
- Identify training needs and arrange for training (Internal/ External)
- Ensure sustainability in the department thereby recognizing talent, planning, coaching, hiring and succession planning
- Make the company's values and management principles live in the department(s).
- Proactively manage team member’s performance.
- Compile annual budgets for your respective area

**Quality Control**
- Ensure that all food safety requirements are met and that you remain up to date with revised versions of FSSC requirements.
- Participate actively in Food Safety Team meetings and address all issues concerning Food Safety
- Responsible for corrective actions raised in the department
- Work closely with the Technical team to improve food safety standards.
- Ensure food safety culture is always practiced in Maintenance department.
- Assist QA / Technical Manager to prepare for internal & external audits and ensure maintenance complies to Food Safety System requirements.

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**
- Relevant experience in Facilities Management.
- Experience within the food industry would be preferable, but not essential.
- Knowledge / experience in Line management, Continuous improvement
- Project management and Budget management experience
- Welding
- preferably stainless steel
- General plumbing, electrical, mechanical work beneficial
- Computer literate with experience of using Microsoft packages including databases and Excel
- Experienced in and have an understanding of Food Safety
- Knowledge of Health and Safety in the workplace
- Excellent people management experience, flexible, can do attitude, an effective team leader with a friendly disposition, self-motivated, positive and accurate with a close eye for detail.
- Labour relations experience is required
- Must be a Team builder with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse management and hourly staff

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Johannesburg, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- Maintanance Management in a Food Production company: 2 years (required)
