**Sustainability Manager**

Our client is seeking a highly qualified and well experienced sustainability Manager

To be committed to working towards best practice in sustainability focusing on the sustainable use of resources,

as well as ensuring that its commercial, conservation, community and cultural preservation activities are amongst the best in the world.

The Group is first and foremost a conservation work in progress, supported by a low-impact, high-value model of eco-tourism, which allows economic opportunities to be shared with people from the surrounding communities by providing careers and access to health and education services.

Tertiary Education - BSc Degree
- Represent the Lodge environmental interests and overall sustainability of Conservation, Community, Culture and Commerce.
- To assist Resident Manager with concession related duties.
- Keep an up-to-date data base of all environmental issues.
- Ensure ongoing, responsible environmental management.
- Coordinate EIA inputs with the Environmental Consultants and management.
- Minimum of 7 years working on a Big 5 Game reserve
- Minimum 5 years working in a minimum luxury 5 star lodges.
- Valid RSA Driver's License and PDP
- Mature and responsible
- Well spoken, well-groomed and presentable
- Strong leadership capabilities
- A hardworking, co-operative manner.
- High standards of service excellence and a passion for the hospitality industry, environmental management and wildlife preservation.
- English and a second language, Shangaan, would be preferable.
- Computer literate.
- Excellent management ability and communication skills.
- A clear understanding of basic labour law and disciplinary procedures.
- Assertiveness, patience and good organizational skills
- Be an effective manager of people;
- Be mature efficient and personally well organized;
- Have strong time management and self-discipline;
- Ability to keep calm in stressful situations

Advanced knowledge of protected area management practices in an African context.

Under the Sustainable Manager's direction, the differnet departments are working towards implementing and monitoring plans

and strategies to ensure that The Game Lodges and Reserve remains environmentally, socially and commercially sustainable.

Understanding of contemporary nature and wildlife conservation management in Africa. Protected areas cannot function in isolation, integration through the establishment of smart and mutually beneficial synergies with relevant stakeholders are vital.
Responsibility to ensure that future conservation endeavors are sustainable, and that biodiversity is protected in all its facets

and fluxes in the ever challenging, demanding and fluid African landscape.

Conservation is more than just safeguarding habitat and protecting animals.

It is about the sustainable use of all natural resources.

**Scope of Work**
- Management of relations and act as conduit between management, guides and Section Ranger of SANParks.
- To measure and assess The overall sustainability goals.
- to assess the full impact of the reserve everything needed to be measured.
- The sustainable use of all natural resources.
- Gathering and collating all the data required to understand current performance and set improvement targets
- Utilising the communication and leadership skills to motivate and inspire the community to remain mindful of the balancing act between the nature based tourism aspect of the reserve and its conservation, community and cultural objectives.
- Teach the surrounding community to change household waste into wet and dry, and watch the consumption of water and electricity.
- Improvement, of taking incremental steps to amplify the positive impacts and mitigate the negative ones.
- To integrating the needs of the greater community with the integrity of nature
- To assist and advise on any security issues that may arise at the lodges.
- Represent environmental interests
- Keep an up-to-date data base of all environmental issues.
- Ensure ongoing, responsible environmental management.
- Coordinate EIA inputs with the Environmental Consultants and management.

Package on offer
- **Salary R 35 000**:

- 21 days annual leave
- Provident Fund with a 5% company contribution.
- 50% Medical aid contribution - Discovery only
