Financial Director

We are seeking an inventive FD, who possesses strong skills in, and enjoys: strategic thinking, analysis, being challenged in a growing company, active communication, and leadership. The FD should also harmonize financial operations, develop and implement effective financial strategies, guide financial stability, monitor all financial activities and ensure compliance, promote revenue growth, and maintain good relationships with investors towards enhancing their confidence.

**Responsibilities**:

- Directing financial planning and strategy
- Analysing and reporting on financial performance, particularly to the board and the shareholders
- Implementing fund-raising strategies and processes
- Preparing and assessing forecasts and building budgets
- Overseeing and executing audit and tax activities
- Developing and implementing accounting policies
- Managing internal controls and compliance
- Managing accounting staff
- Optimising process and tools to maximise the ability to efficiently delegate to accounting staff
- Hiring, training, and developing accounting staff, or overseeing that
- Assessing, managing, and minimizing risk
- Cash flow forecasting and management
- Analysing and forecasting complex financial data, financial modelling
- Managing debt
- Support in managing BEE accreditation levels
- Assisting departments and projects in their bids, resourcing, budgeting and pricing
- Assisting managers to understand the cost-benefit equation of every area of expenditure or investment
- Cultivating a good working relationship with the CEO, company directors, and colleagues
- Breaking down complex data to offer quick interpretation by others and readily inform wider action-planning, resulting in a positive influence on, among other things, company strategy
- Prioritising and working alone or doing so in collaboration with the team, as necessary
- Striving to accelerate the company's growth and success
- Analysing threats and opportunities
- Ensuring efficiency, optimisation and automation of the company’s ERP system and other processes in the financial/accounting space, and effective interface with other departments
- Negotiating with suppliers
- Oversight of trade finance facility and foreign currency risk management for imports (FECs)

**Requirements**:

- CA (SA), or a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance combined with a post-graduate degree at minimum masters level (eg. MBA)
- An entrepreneurial mindset
- 2 or more years of corporate experience post-qualification, preferably with some experience gained in a manufacturing environment. A total of at least five years’ experience (including eg. audit experience)

- Comfort with, and a desire to operate across multiple jurisdictions; experience with operating in multiple currencies and regions and with foreign exchange risk management is a benefit
- Experience in ERP software, or an understanding of it with an interest in learning it
- Possibly an interest in artificial intelligence and automation in data analysis and reporting
