**Purpose**:
To assume full accountability for all financial aspects of the business, including Financial / statutory reporting, strategic and tactical decisions affecting and impacting business finance fundamentals, working capital management, corporate activity relating to mergers/acquisitions and greenfield projects, forecasting, tax and legal compliances and budget management across all areas of the business.
**Levels of Authority and Decision-Making**:
The Head of Finance is responsible for crafting, implementing, and managing the budget allocated to all business functions including the finance function. Decisions that require additional funding require approval of the Investment Principle.
**KPA's**:
**Planning & Strategy**:
- Assist in formulating the group’s future direction and support tactical initiatives
- Formulate the strategic intent for South Africa and the rest of Africa.
- Develop performance measures that support the group’s strategic direction
- Assist with the implementation of strategic decisions
- Develop financial and tax strategies
- Manage the capital request and budgeting processes
- Introduce Corporate Governance structures into the Group to align the group with the King Committee Governance structures
**Financial Reporting and Information management**:
- Monitor banking and working capital management of the group
- Develop, implement and maintain business and financial control systems to safeguard financial assets for the company
- Ensure effective management of the tax regime
- Prepare financial and statutory reports including monthly management accounts for Group, business plans as well as accurate decision making information
- Responsibility for external audit & audit committee
- Preparation of integrated report for Group on an annual basis
- Establish and operate a forward forecasting procedure that encompass all key financial management responsibilities, namely what impacts cash flow, profit and loss as well as the impact to the balance sheet.
**Budgeting & Funding**:
- Lead process of preparation of 3 year forecasts and detailed annual budget by business and across Group
- Monthly variance analysis and reporting to CEO as well as Audit Committee
- Monitor cash balances and cash forecast
- Arrange for debt and equity financing
**Tax and Risk Management**:
- Tax (direct and indirect) compliance across all legal entities i.e preparation of monthly / quarterly and annual returns, etc
- Understand and mitigate key elements of the companies risk profile
- Maintain appropriate insurance coverage
- Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
- Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
- Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations
**Vulnerabilities (control span)**:
- Understand the Macro-Economics including the exchange rate, inflation, fiscal policy of the government
- Cross border macro-economic factors such as tax and political, legislation that may influence on the group’s performance
**REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB**:
- BCom Honours in Accounting
- CA (Preferable)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience (post articles) in a environment
- Experience in strategic planning and execution
- Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures
- Experience in formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data
- Ability to develop and deliver presentations
- Ability to identify and secure funding/revenue sources
- Ability to communicate and interact at all levels
- Work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
- Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects
- Ability to develop financial plans and manage resources
- Exceptional professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Risk management, finance, marketing and business acumen
