Ou client, an Accounting, Tax and Business Advisory firm to SMME's is looking to employ a detail-oriented and experienced accounting supervisor to oversee and coordinate the daily operations of the SMME Accounting Department. The Accounting Supervisor's responsibilities include recruiting and training accounting staff, assisting in the preparation of financial reports including Annual Financial Statements, and other monthly transactions including Tax submissions and payroll records. The Accounting Supervisor will also institute disciplinary measures against poorly performing employees. The successful incumbent will be someone who keeps abreast of the latest developments in accounting technologies and software to streamline accounting processes.

To be successful as an accounting supervisor, you should be able to process large amounts of numerical data and have strong leadership skills. Ultimately, an exceptional Accounting Supervisor should have sound knowledge of accounting principles and practices, and demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Accounting Supervisor Responsibilities:

- Overseeing and assisting staff members in the preparation of monthly and quarterly accounting reports for their clients.
- Analyzing financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting practices.
- Identifying potential cash flow problems and financial irregularities in client businesses
- Ensuring the accurate preparation of tax returns by Accountants and ensuring their client businesss taxes are paid in a timely manner.
- Overseeing and assisting with reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
- Supervising and providing overall guidance to accountants.
- Providing regular updates to management regarding the performance of accountants
- Ensuring that the client's businesses maintains compliance with accounting legislation.
- Maintain and improve quality of customer service to ensure client retention and satisfaction
- Ensure that work done by accountants is accurate, complete and of good quality
- Ensure that appropriate and correct work is being done to prepare for all client deadlines
- Ensure that appropriate checks are carried before management accounts reviews

Accounting Supervisor Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
- Proven experience working as an Accounting Supervisor.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- The ability to process large amounts of numerical data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong management and leadership skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Detail-oriented.
