Head of Strategy

**THE JOB AT A GLANCE**
As the Head of Strategy, you will be responsible for the development, communication, execution, and maintenance of the company’s long and short-term strategic initiatives including the overall vision and mission of the company. You will also be responsible for the formalisation of the company’s strategic-planning processes, leading the development of the strategy, translating it for people across divisions, driving organizational change, forging new working relationships and synergies across the organization, and establishing greater transparency and accountability for those people carrying out the company’s strategy. In addition, you will be responsible for assessing whether strategic initiatives, at all levels of the company, are in line with the company’s standards and objectives.
**WHAT WILL YOU DO?**
**Facilitate the development, execution, and communication of the company’s long and short-term strategy**
- Develop a comprehensive, inclusive strategic plan and growth strategy by collaborating with the CEO, senior leadership, and the board.
- Co-create, with relevant stakeholders, the purpose of the company (i.e., the exitance) along with a clear vision and mission.
- Collaborate with the CFO to develop a capital plan in line with the organisation's strategy.
- Devise strategies that inform the marketing, financial and channel planning for the business as well as target setting for weekly/quarterly/annual business plans.
- Lead the development of RMA’s strategic plan/framework and the detailed current year operating plan, while adhering to direction set by the CEO and Board of Directors, by (including but not limited to) formalising and leading the strategic planning process, focusing on long term trends and outlook, identifying the company’s strengths and weaknesses and competitive intelligence.
- Identify, convey, and manage strategic risks.
- Ensure that the strategy is cascaded; ensure that the company and individual scorecards align to the strategy and that progress is appropriately measured.
- Define the structure and execution of strategic initiatives through the development of work plans, gathering and generation of relevant data, the leading of analyses, and the development of actionable goals that make it possible to achieve the strategic objectives.
- Facilitate the execution of the strategy by working collaboratively with the other Executive Team members and ensuring that the strategy is communicated, clearly and easily understood by all internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure that strategic actions are completed at various levels to achieve desired results.
- Ensure suitable metrics and key performance indicators are in place to measure performance and progress towards achieving RMA’s strategic goals.
**Identify, develop, and manage new business opportunities**
- Identify and develop strategic opportunities for the business with a view of diversifying the consumer base and gaining an additional share of the market.
- Provide short and long-term strategic recommendations to Board and Exco, that are meant to develop and capitalise business opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Sales and Marketing team to develop new business opportunities by identifying capital projects, joint ventures, leveraging contacts, pursuing new product development, improving project efficiency.
- Collaborate with ICT team to develop new business opportunities by identifying capital projects, joint ventures, leveraging contacts, pursuing new product development, improving project efficiency.
- Optimise the company’s current product offerings.
- Analyse the success of products, projects, and activities.
- Analyse market dynamics, market share changes and product line performance in collaboration with the Sales and Marketing team.
- Review the feasibility of new markets as well as their potential growth opportunities in line with RMA’s strategy.
- Oversee the execution of business initiatives.
- Develop and execute RMA’s Mergers and Acquisitions Strategy.
**Manage the Corporate Strategy team**
- Oversee the operational activities of the strategy team in the effective management of projects across the business
- Create a departmental vision, culture and performance standards and ensure adoption of these at all levels of the department
- Act as a mentor to others in the department
**Act as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to external and internal stakeholders**
- Act as a key advisor to the CEO and board on critical changes in the competitive landscape, global marketplace and external business environment and provide regular updates on strategy implementation.
- Engage external business and industry experts to learn and influence business strategies, constantly remaining alert and forward-thinking about opportunities and risks in the industry.
