Are you a dedicated and experienced artisan ready to take the lead in a manufacturing environment? We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of our operations at our plastic extrusion manufacturing plant.

As a Maintenance Technician, your hands-on leadership will be essential in preventing downtime, leading the maintenance team, and enhancing overall plant efficiency.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Lead and mentor a team of maintenance assistants, providing guidance, training, and unwavering support.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize machine breakdowns and downtime.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on extrusion machines and associated equipment.
- Maintain a well-stocked critical spare parts inventory, ensuring critical components are readily available.
- Schedule and coordinate maintenance activities to minimize disruptions to production.
- Collaborate with the production team to plan and execute maintenance tasks during scheduled downtime.
- Regularly inspect and assess equipment, identifying opportunities for improvement and optimization.
- Keep meticulous maintenance records, including job cards, asset registry, maintenance checklists and reports.
- Play a vital role in the procurement of new equipment, providing invaluable input on maintenance and reliability considerations.

**Qualifications**:

- Mechanical Fitter and Turner or Mechanical Fitter Trade Qualification
- An additional electrical qualification is a huge advantage.
- A minimum of 10 years of food-safe plant maintenance experience, with a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems.
- +/- 2 years leadership skills, with the ability to manage and inspire a team.
- Knowledge of food-safety regulations and plastic extrusion machinery is highly desirable.
- Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Outstanding organizational and communication skills.
- Willingness to work in a high-pressure FSSC production environment, including overtime and weekend work as required.
- A strong work ethic, commitment to efficiency, and quality work standards.

**Salary**: From R180.00 per hour
