Velocity Fibre is a leading fibre infrastructure contractor, working with South Africa’s largest Fibre Network Operators (FNOs) to accelerate broadband access across the country. With a mandate to deliver millions of homes passed—both in South Africa and ultimately across the African continent—we are scaling rapidly and seeking a dynamic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead our national operations.

**About the Role**

As COO, you will oversee the full operational lifecycle of major fibre deployment projects. From civil and optical works to stakeholder engagement and post-installation maintenance, you’ll ensure we deliver on time, at scale, and to the highest standards. This role is central to transforming our rollout ambitions into on-the-ground results.

**What You’ll Be Responsible For**

Leading execution across multiple fibre rollout programmes nationally

Managing regional project teams, site supervisors, subcontractors, and operational leads

Overseeing delivery across civil works, optical fibre installation, SHEQ, logistics, and maintenance

Driving performance and accountability across all build regions

Building scalable processes to support rapid expansion

Ensuring compliance with FNO partner SLAs, quality benchmarks, timelines, and safety standards

Reporting directly to the CEO and collaborating with the Executive Team to align operations with strategic growth

**What We’re Looking For**

8+ years’ experience in large-scale infrastructure or telecoms operations

Strong background in fibre deployment, utilities, construction, or network rollouts

Proven ability to lead complex, multi-region projects with tight timelines

Strategic thinker with a hands-on, solution-oriented approach

Experience working with major FNOs or infrastructure clients

Engineering, construction, or operations degree advantageous
