Business Intelligence Manager

**POSITION: BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE MANAGER**

**LOCATION: CAPE TOWN, WESTERN CAPE**

**PURPOSE OF THE POSITION**:
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Data Collection and Analysis - Gather and collect relevant data from various sources, including internal databases, external vendors, and market research reports. Perform data cleansing, data validation, and ensure data integrity. Analyse data to identify patterns, trends, and insights related to property sourcing and location intelligence.
- Data Management and Governance - Establish and enforce data management and governance policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and best practices. Maintain data documentation, metadata, and data dictionaries to facilitate data understanding and usage.
- Review data pipelines and test plans to ensure that business results are tested and correct
- Analyse information to identify trends, discrepancies and inconsistencies for decision making purposes
- Source, build and manage partnerships with external experts / providers to assist in delivery on key BI projects
- Location Intelligence - Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the retail property market and its dynamics. Utilise location intelligence tools and techniques to assess potential store locations, evaluate market demographics, and analyse competition. Provide recommendations on optimal store locations based on location intelligence insights
- Reporting and Visualization - Create and maintain standardised reports, dashboards, and visualisations to communicate key findings and insights to stakeholders. Present data-driven recommendations and insights to management and other relevant teams. Ensure the accuracy, clarity, and accessibility of reports and visualisations.
- Elicit business requirements and translate them into the appropriate data modelling, reporting and analysis specifications, employing critical thinking to ensure alignment with the actual business need
- Research and develop best practices for reports and dashboards deployments
- Business Strategy and Decision Support - Collaborate with the property team and business to understand their objectives and provide data-driven insights to support decision-making. Conduct strategic analysis and forecasting to identify opportunities and risks related to property sourcing and location intelligence. Assist in the development and implementation of business strategies based on data-driven insights.
- Translate tactical business strategies into actionable goals and execute on relevant business intelligence (BI) projects / BI initiatives aligned to strategic objectives with specific performance measures and control systems to track progress
- Support and implement a cycle of medium-term improvements to drive and strategic objectives through BI
- Provide thought leadership and expertise
- Keep up to date with best practice and innovative solutions and challenge current designs to make a relevant difference in business
- Provide guidance, training, and problem-solving assistance to other team members
- Develop and maintain documentation for business intelligence solutions and processes

**QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE**:

- Tertiary qualification in a quantitative field (includes but not limited to - Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Economics, Finance, Business Analytics)
- Relevant Honours Degree preferred
- Minimum of 3 years experience in business intelligence or a related field
- Minimum 3 years experience using BI reporting tools (e.g. Looker, QlikView, Tableau, Microsoft BI, etc.)
- Minimum 3 years SQL experience
- Knowledge of location intelligence tools, such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems), mapping software, and demographic analysis tools.
- 3+ years working experience within Data Analytics or Business Intelligence, driving Analytics/BI projects to successful completion, resulting in business impact
- R or Python programming for data analytics experience would be advantageous
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills to gather and effectively communicate Analytics/BI project requirements, outcomes, results, and status
- Be commercially curious
- Knowledge of data analysis techniques, such as time series analysis, scenario analysis, clustering & segmentation, regression, decision trees, forecasting, and interpretation & creation of probability distributions (proficiency in a few of these will suffice)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
- Strong leadership skills and experience managing a team
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate complex information to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
