Civil Supervisor

GIBB Mining, a subsidiary of the GIBB Group, is looking for another talented professional to complement their team, in the form of a Civil Supervisor.

The below listed responsibilities and requirements will be assessed during the interview stages and will further be confirmed with the relevant professional references that you currently are or have reported to in your previously two positions.

**Purpose**:
The Civil Supervisor for the Syferfontein Satellite Shaft Project (Bokamoso Project) will be responsible for the successful construction of the site infrastructure, earthworks and civil works on the project. The Civil Supervisor will be part of the Bokamoso Site team and will manage the civil scope of work.

**Responsibilities**:

- Environmental: Guide and support the contractors to ensure compliance with the project EMPr’s
- Health & Safety: Provide active and demonstrable support to the HSE Officers to enforce the HSE Plan on site
- Ensure that the Contractors equipment is in a safe and good working condition at all times
- Contractor management on civil works: Ensure the contractors comply with its construction contract
- Document Management: Assist the Document Controller with site-generated project documentation
- Control and monitor the drawing plan and ensure that contractors are working to the latest revision on the drawings
- Planning: Support project Planner and Surveyor with progress measurements
- Reporting: Support internal team with reporting and preparation of external reporting to the Client
- Quality: Ensure the Quality Compliance of the contractor
- Instill Corrective Action when deviations from plan or standards occur
- Commercial: Assist Construction Site Manager and Commercial team with supporting document compilation for Project milestone payment claims
- Liaising: Proactive interaction with internal and external stakeholders during the construction of all Civil Works
- Attendance of Site Construction, Project Planning, Safety, Site Inspection meetings as required.
- On request for handover of a completed structure, the incumbent will carry out an inspection and compile a punch list for remedial work by the contractor.

**Job Requirements**

**Qualifications**:

- Tertiary qualification in an Engineering or Construction field (BSc, BTech or equivalent as a minimum)

**Experience**:

- Minimum 10 years' work experience as civil site engineer or civil construction supervisor, with at least 4 years’ experience on mining projects
- Exposure and knowledge to multiple project execution will be an added advantage

**Person Requirements**

**Core Requirements**:

- An excellent working knowledge of MS Office
- Willingness to be site-based in Mpumalanga (Secunda) for the full duration of the project
- General technical acumen
- Speaks and writes English fluently
- Good knowledge of another language is an advantage
- In possession of a valid driver’s license
- Medically fit
