As we build a world with better blueberries at Fall Creek Farm & Nursery (South Africa) we are pleased to announce that we are looking for a **Maintenance Technician / Artisan** to join the Operations Team, located in **Paarl South Africa**

This position is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery, mechanical equipment, vehicles, environmental monitoring systems and other production equipment at the nursery in a safe manner.

This will include preventative and breakdown maintenance, as well as general maintenance on buildings and facilities on the farm.

Primary focus on both electrical and mechanical needs of the nursery, and making use of contractors / service providers where required

**ORGANISATIONAL FIT**

This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor,

**JOB SETTING**:
Workshop, Nursery, greenhouse, and/or field environment.

Requires use of hand and industrial power tools such as drills, power saws, welding equipment, grinders, forklifts, scissor lifts, tractors, and other miscellaneous equipment.

May be exposed to weather, insects, bees, noise, dust, pollen, soil/mud, fertilizers, soil additives, and agricultural chemicals.

Work hours may change, depending on seasonal requirements. On rare occasions evening and weekend work may be required.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (Other duties may be assigned)**
- Responsible for assembling, installing, moving, repairing and generally maintaining machinery and equipment for improved reliability and uptime.
- Inspects machinery on a regular basis to predict and prevent mechanical / electrical failure.
- Maintains machinery and equipment to achieve optimal performance levels. This includes performing routine tasks, which include both basic mechanical and electrical services.
- May perform general maintenance to facilities including basic electrical, plumbing, and facilities
- Works with others to identify and prioritize maintenance needs.
- Adheres to all safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Will support with the execution of planned / design stages of assembly of nursery equipment and machinery.
- Will be responsible for programming and troubleshooting of electrical equipment, and may include PLC operated machines
- May order, restock and store supplies.
- Must follow H&S standards, and installation rules
- Responsible for reporting any unsafe conditions immediately.
- Responsible for the inventory of tools and ensuring that they are in good operating condition.
- Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
- Maintains a respectful work environment.
- Performs other tasks as directed."

**REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND TRAINING**
- Minimum Grade 12 plus Technical / Electrical Trade Certificate (or in progress)
- Documented experience repairing and maintaining industrial machinery
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical / electrical equipment
- Experience with fabrication and welding (advantageous)
- Requires a strong attention to detail.
- Requires the ability to identify, plan, and solve problems with relation to maintenance / electrical demands in nursery
- Good understanding, comprehension and verbal and written communication skills.
- Requires regular, reliable attendance at the place of business. May be required after hours, and on weekends
- A valid driver’s license
- Ability & willingness to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
- Ability to interact effectively with management and team alike, which may include contractors / service providers to the company
- Ability to collaborate with other team members and maintain a positive attitude
- Must be able to exercise good judgment in recognizing scope of authority.
- Must demonstrate professional and ethical business practices, adherence to company values, and a commitment to personal and professional development
