IT Server Administrator

At APP we provide managed services for end user computing, ICT resourcing, project management and consultation with some of the biggest companies in South Africa, across multiple industries and verticals. We are offering a position to an IT Server Administrator to harness their skills in ensuring optimal performance of servers and services.
**Duties & Responsibilities**:
- Managing calls, daily health checks and backups.
- Ensuring compliance to all applicable policies, standards, and procedures.
- Ensuring integrity and recoverability of servers and server backups.
- Managing patch, malware, and security configuration compliance.
- Assisting with general infrastructure support of the IT environment.
- Providing Active Directory support such as user maintenance, folder permissions and group policy objects.
- Maintaining and validating back-ups and disaster recovery systems.
- Maintaining up-to-date and detailed documentation.
- Ensuring relevant documentation and assistance is provided to enable desktop support technicians to effectively support end users.
- Reporting weekly on daily activities and participating in meetings and discussions.
- Implementing projects and tasks with mínimal supervision.
- Building reputable relationships within the organization.
- Providing support for the maintenance of the Citrix Hypervisor, servers and other infrastructure requirements such as desktops, print server, FTP and SMS services.
**Qualification & Experience**:
- 5 - 7 years' experience in IT Server Administration
- Diploma in IT or similar qualification
- Solaris Administration certification will be an added advantage
- MCSE certification
- RHCSA certification
- High level understanding of networking and virtualisation concepts
- Advanced understanding of server concepts
- Ability to diagnose and solve complex technology problems
