Engineer: Client, Server and Storage

Main Job Purpose:To design, implement, and support server and storage solutions, ensuring high availability, optimal performance, and alignment with customer requirements. The Server and Storage Engineer is responsible for deploying and maintaining infrastructure solutions across the company portfolio, internally and externally, including technologies from Dell, HPE, Huawei, and other supported vendors. Minimum Desired Qualifications:Bachelorâs Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.Relevant certifications such as Dell EMC, HPE ASE/ATP, Huawei HCIA/HCIP, VMWare or equivalent Minimum Desired ExperienceAt least 5 years of experience in server and storage implementation and support.Proven expertise in server virtualisation, storage area networks (SAN), and backup solutions.Hands-on experience with technologies from Dell, HPE, and Huawei. Minimum Desired CompetenciesIn-depth knowledge of server and storage architectures and technologies.Proficiency in virtualisation platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Excellent communication and customer service skills.Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects. Reporting Structure         LIST OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:           Responsibilities and Accountability Client, Server and Storage ImplementationDesign and deploy client, server and storage solutions tailored to customer needs.Install, configure, and optimize client devices, servers, SANs, and NAS systems.Implement server virtualization and high-availability solutions.Ensure proper integration of storage solutions with backup and disaster recovery systems. Infrastructure Maintenance and SupportPerform regular health checks and maintenance of server and storage systems.Monitor performance and ensure uptime of critical infrastructure.Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues related to servers and storage.Manage firmware and software updates to maintain compliance and performance. Customer Engagement and SupportWork closely with clients to understand infrastructure requirements and recommend suitable solutions.Provide technical support and training to clients on server and storage systems.Act as a point of escalation for complex technical issues. Vendor and Partner CollaborationEngage with vendor support teams for issue resolution and technical guidance.Leverage vendor tools and resources to optimise deployments and support.Maintain compliance with vendor certification and partnership requirements. Documentation and ReportingMaintain detailed documentation of system configurations, deployments, and changes.Prepare reports on system performance, incidents, and project progress.Provide technical documentation and training materials for internal teams. Certifications and ComplianceEnsure professional certifications for relevant server and storage technologies are up to date.Assist in achieving and maintaining vendor partnership certifications.Monitor industry trends to recommend new certifications or technologies beneficial to the company. Performance Optimisation and ScalabilityAnalyse and optimise system performance to meet current and future demands.Recommend upgrades or changes to infrastructure to enhance scalability and efficiency. Collaboration and Team SupportWork collaboratively with other engineers, project managers, and sales teams to deliver solutions.Share knowledge and expertise to develop team capabilities. NOTEThe above job profile identifies the key areas of responsibility of the position and is not all - encompassing description of duties and tasks.
