Duties/PligteManaging and supervising field staff;-
- Assisting the Senior Technical Officer and Laboratory Manager with the planning, preparation, and implementation of studies at sites, including liaising withsuppliers and contractors;Managing, supporting, and assisting with the day-to-day field operational activities;-
- Traveling within the Cape Metro from Stellenbosch University Tygerberg Campus, including being based routinely at the field sites and using own transport;-
- Ensuring that study recruitment targets are met and providing weekly updates on study recruitment numbers;-
- Liaising between field staff, laboratory staff, the lab manager and the group PI;-
- Working closely with primary healthcare centres and hospitals by building relationships and networking with staff through attending regular meetings;-
- Ensuring that the field staff routinely conduct quality control of stocks at each site by means of inventory and asset management of field consumables and assets;-
- Meeting the deadlines that have been set for compiling and submitting reports;-
- Overseeing the QC of patient data from sites;-
- Developing strategies and plans with a view to achieve the goals that have been set;-
- Attending meetings as required and chairing internal meetings with field staff;-
- Ensuring that administrative documents and reports related to studies are submitted before the deadline;-
- Ensuring that medical supplies at sites remain sufficient;-
- Serving as a first line contact person at site level if field staff have queries;-
- Ensuring that field staff do research according to ethical standards and that regulatory requirements are met at all times, and ensuring that clinical recruitmentactivities adhere to the guidelines of Good Clinical Practices (GCP);Performing all duties within the context of the Mission, Vision and Values Statement of Stellenbosch University.Job Requirements/Pos VereistesTertiary qualification in nursing care, public health management or health sciences;- At least five years' appropriate work experience, including staff management and conflict resolution experience;- Previous experience in clinical trials or research studies;- Computer literacy of the Office 365 environment (RedCap will be an advantage);- A punctual, well-organised and responsible work ethic;- The ability to work autonomously;- The ability to speak isiXhosa and/or Afrikaans in addition to English;- A goal-oriented and self-motivated disposition;- Strong interpersonal and good communication skills;- The ability to work within a culturally diverse team;- Willingness to work in townships;- A valid driver's license and own reliable transport.
