Nurse Advisor X 1

**Location**: Ugu District, KwaZulu Natal

**Type of Contract**: fixed term contract ( actual contract duration period to be confirmed at interviews )

**Main purpose of the job **The incumbent will support teams providing technical support and direct service delivery to the Department of Health and sites in the district. The incumbent will contribute to the provision of the district approach to all aspects of quality improvement in clinical care.

**Key performance areas Implement the defined QI Programme within allocated areas. ** Deliver and address issues of quality in health systems including clinical services such as adolescent and pediatric HIV treatment, HIV wellness Programmes, tuberculosis screening and care, screening for malnutrition, nurse-initiated and managed ART, PMTCT, pediatric diagnosis, linkage to care and treatment and sexual and reproductive health. Integrate preventative health services and awareness of social determinants of health. Provide on-site mentorship to healthcare workers on quality improvement principles, pediatric NIMART, IMCI and disclosure and adherence counselling. Using quality improvement methodology to monitor and review the implementation and progress of the Programme. Conduct File audits in line with quality improvement. Review challenges and achievements and institute corrective action. Compile and disseminate reports to relevant stakeholders. Integrate feedback from reports into Programme implementation plan and subsequent progress reports. Identify training needs of staff for Programme implementation (Internal and external), develop training plans and conduct on-site training sessions at health facilities. Provide ongoing training, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and support.Participate in ongoing mentorship Programmes. Establish a baseline needs assessment for allocated area/health facilities. Plan a tailored approach in conjunction with Programme/project manager/project coordinator and technical experts taking into consideration the needs and priorities of the area. Develop a project plan and timeline for addressing the identified needs and priorities. Perform other duties aligned to the role as assigned.

**Required minimum education and training** o Diploma in General Nursing (with specialization) o Nimart Certificate

**Professional Body** o Current registration with the South African Nursing Council

**Minimum work experience** o 4 years’ work experience in a public health setting

**Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilitie**s o Postgraduate degree. o Certification in HIV Management and dispensing. o Valid Driver’s License. o Ability and willingness to travel. o Knowledge of Clinical Systems and Data Management. o Training and working knowledge of Nurse Initiated Management of Anti Retroviral Therapy (NIMART), Primary Health Care (PHC) and Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI). o Sound technical knowledge of PMTCT, TB-HIV integration, Paediatric treatment and care. o Experience working in a donor funded organization / NGO or project-based environment. o Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint). o Available to commence work immediately.
