Ops Specialist: Submarine Cables

**Core Description**:
Perform the submarine cable system Network Administrator function, including technical system analysis and recommendations to the relevant consortia work groups, allocate network resources and system configuration and activations as well as the implementation of IRU/ OCU Agreements. Provide international network technical solutions and quotes for services over Telkom's international sub-marine and IP network, as well the implementation of network solutions. Perform IPNet engineering functions including international network design, capacity sourcing, utilisation/ congestion monitoring.**

Job Responsibilities**:
The incumbent will be required to: 1) prepare Facility Ownership Databases; 2) Update Information Systems; 3) Compile Reports; 4) Develop Multiplex and Routing Plans; 5) Maintain System Documentation/Correspondence; 6) Monitor International Route Performance; 7) Manage International Network Capacity; 8) Provide Quotes for Capacity on International Network**

**Qualifications**:
Relevant 3 year Degree/Diploma (at least NQF 6)**
Experience**:
3 Years experience in a Transmission environment**
Special Requirements**:
Must be prepared to travel and be away from home for periods of time. Work overtime Have a valid driver's license**
Comments**:
Applicants with a strong transmission and OSNet engineering background will have an advantage. They must understand international network design, capacity sourcing and building relating to providing telecomminication services on the submarine cable networks.

NB: The Company adopted a hybrid operating model whereby employees will have two registered workplace locations. This job is identified to be performed from home therefor the home-based office location is the primary workplace and the official office-based location is the secondary workplace. This position is in Centurion, Gauteng.
