**PLANT MANAGER, D UPPER**:SERITI **COAL, NEW VAAL COLLIERY, FREE STATE**

**INTERNAL & EXTERNAL**

**The role**:
The role manages, directs and co-ordinates overall plant operations to meet the market and business requirements for quality, quantity, cost and delivery using an integrated and value-based approach in support of the Seriti Coal business strategy.

**The duties will include but are not limited to**:

- Ensure Zero Harm remains his/her top _priority_
- Ensure MHSA, Minerals Act, SHEQ standards and procedures are maintained and complied with at all times
- Ensuring the effective management of the Plant and achievement of all Plant KPI’s through rigorous planning.
- Ensure that legal requirements, codes of practices, group standards, procedures and policies are updated, implemented, adhered to and that changes to legal requirements are communicated
- Financial Budgeting & Management
- Effective People management, ensuring that roles are well defined and clarified and that competencies and learning paths are developed improving human capacity and capability
- Continuous Improvement, ensuring the support of continuous improvement interventions as well as improving standards, processes and systems and supporting the implementation of new methods / technologies
- Sharing of specific knowledge to peers and stakeholders through the compilation of metallurgical and other related information for record keeping purposes

**You will need**:

- BSc Degree / B Tech / National Higher Diploma (T4) in Metallurgical, Chemical Engineering or Mineral Processing (NQF Level 7)
- Sound knowledge of safety systems, regulations and standards with a high regard to safety and an excellent safety record
- Membership/registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa
- Membership of the South African Coal Processing Society is encouraged
- Minimum 4-6 years experience in a Plant Production Environment with in-depth experience in the coal mining industry
- In depth knowledge of Coal Processing methodologies
- A good knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act
- Awareness of the Minerals Act and Environmental legislation.
- Basic knowledge of broader Metallurgical principles, processes and best practices.
- Aware of best practices and new technologies
- A good understanding of commerce and engineering principles
- Report writing skills
- Computer Literacy (MS Office)
- Valid driver’s License (K53)
- In possession of or able to obtain a valid certificate of fitness

**Advantageous**:

- Safety & Risk Management courses
- Management Development Programme or equivalent
