Mechanical Fitter

You will be responsible for but not limited to:
Carry out preventative maintenance according to the maintenance plan and attend to break downs on all machines

Perform improvements on machines and equipment when necessary

Ensure correct lubricants are used for a specified machine/product as advised by the machine/product specifications

Ensure proper care and use of workshop machines, tools and equipment

Order and collect spares and other maintenance requirements

Respond to call outs and attends to breakdowns when required

Liaise with service companies on plant service issues, air compressors, hoists and forklift trucks

Complete all break down and preventative maintenance records according to QMS procedures

Testing of machines and equipment worked on during maintenance

Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment, including Pneumatic pumps, centrifuges, compressors, repairing mechanical seals and other machinery to ensure smooth operation and mínimal downtime

Perform routine inspections and diagnose faults in mechanical systems, identifying issues and determining the most appropriate course of action

Repair, replace, or adjust defective or worn parts, using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment

Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals to understand equipment specifications and ensure proper installation, maintenance, and repairs

Coordinate with other maintenance personnel and production staff to schedule maintenance activities and minimize disruption to production processes

Maintain accurate records of maintenance work performed, parts used, and associated costs.

**EDUCATION / REQUIREMENTS**:
Grade 12 (Matric) / Technical Qualification

Trade tested Mechanical fitter experience

Red seal certificate will be adv

Millwright experience a def must

Minimum 3 - 4 years of experience as a mechanical fitter, maintenance technician, or similar role in an industrial setting

TIG welding experience would be a strong advantage

Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and power transmission systems

Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
