**Key Responsibilities**:

- Effectively leading the AME Legal Team, including effective line management and professional development of direct reports.
- A member of Sage AME’s Extended Leadership Community, contributing to leadership decisions and execution of strategic priorities.
- Provide best-in-class end-to-end legal commercial, regulatory and compliance advice, including the delivery of commercial and tactical data privacy advice on all areas of the AME legal operations in collaboration with the Data Privacy Office.
- Advise and negotiate contracts, so that all contracts, projects and strategic business initiatives are appropriately negotiated to deliver maximum value whilst meeting all required commercial objectives and deadlines.
- Ensure legal disputes are pro-actively managed to secure the optimal outcome for Sage.
- Exercise appropriate cost management and control with external advisers.
- Seek out opportunities to reduce unecesary friction points and simplify legal delivery including simplification of existing Legal documentation, processes and procedures within the AME and collaborating on similar initiatives concerning multi-jurisdictional legal delivery.
- Ensure legal compliance across the AMEoperations such that Sage’s legal risk is managed in accordance with its risk tolerances.
- Support high value and complex legal negotiations (e.g. RFPs, non-standard Enterprise arrangements, ISV (Independent Software Vendor) arrangements and complex platform arrangements).
- Capture know-how and build scalable legal assets, efficiencies and processes for reuse in a systematic and robust manner in support of simplification.
- Develop strong relationships with key business stakeholders and functional leadership teams as a valued business partner.
- Ensure regular Legal training (such as Code of Conduct, data privacy, sanctions and anti-bribery) and provide support on other cross functional initiatives.

Skills, know-how and experience:
Must have:

- Excellent and proven track record as a people leader, coach and communicator.
- Substantial legal experience in delivering pragmatic legal advice in the following dsiciplines: commercial, technology, SaaS and privacy.
- A track record of delivering sound and practical legal advice to business leadership as a valued business partner
- Excellent analytical and legal skills used to deliver consistently high quality outcomes
- Demonstrates experience of leading, managing and executing large legal initiatives
- Comprehensive analytical skills and evidence of providing clear explanations of complex legal matters with commercial acumen.
- Understands strategic principles and thinks beyond a tactical and operational level
- Embedding of appropriate legal compliance and policy in a business context
- Effected change management in a fast-paced environment through ambiguity
- Innovative approach to legal services and a willingness to be disruptive, inventive and drive change to optimise legal delivery and support strategic priorities.
- Experience of developing and managing a specialist legal team, improving capability, capacity and collaboration.
- Thinks globally about overall business priorities and not exclusively on the needs/interests of the local market.
- Able to interact with, influence, advise and support key stakeholders at all levels across all parts of our business to ensure close alignment between Legal function and wider business areas.
- Experience of advising on complex technology transactions and related commercial contract terms.

Preferred:

- A detailed understanding of contract law in a technology context. In-depth knowledge of other relevant legal disciplines (e.g. IP, company law, data privacy and litigation) is also highly desirable
- Extensive experience of working with businesses to solve their commercial challenges in an effective, practical manner
