**Main purpose of the job**:

- Manage and support the implementation of Climate and Health Programmes from programme planning, and implementation to closure including new funding opportunities

**Location**:

- **Hugh Solomon Building, Hillbrow, Johannesburg**

**Key performance areas**:

- Collate and formalise all possible cross-functional efforts to achieve programme objectives and goals
- Manage the programme operational plan as set out in conjunction with respective P.I.s and other necessary stakeholders
- Participate in climate and health research activities including the writing of publications
- Provide technical expertise at the donor and other stakeholder meetings in relation to the programmes
- Be the first point of contact for the specific technical areas internally, to DOH and partner organizations
- Communicate agreed on technical strategies in your programme area to programmatic team members who in turn will communicate the strategy to relevant counterparts
- Actively participate in required weekly and Bi-weekly meetings (or as needed), providing feedback on the Programme Status
- Review status programme reports with project teams, address issues as appropriate and provide leadership
- Escalate all relevant issues to the required and respective line authorities including P.I, Sponsor and others as required using the correct medium of communication
- Manage and facilitate meetings as required for staff and Sponsors
- Identify quality improvement areas in each project and ensure appropriate strategy and quality improvement initiatives are developed and measured
- Delegate decision-making, authority, tasks and responsibility to appropriate persons in order to maximize organisation and employee effectiveness
- Liaise with senior portfolio manager on financial, human resources, legal and other administrative reports linked to WHC
- Support budgeting and ensure adequate resources are available to support programme implementation
- Support donor compliance reporting
- Complete accurate and comprehensive record keeping
- Facilitate and resolve administrative queries within the required time frames
- Assist in the writing of manuscripts, protocols and grants as required and in conjunction with respective line manager and/or P.I.
- Liaise with all internal and external stakeholders within the organisation at all levels in order to meet programme goals
- Prepare and facilitate presentations for Senior Management/PI and other stakeholders as requested
- Represent WRHI’s technical and organizational strategic objectives to various stakeholders
- Provide support to climate and health research sites including District hospitals and District health facilities where necessary
- Compile accurate, factual reports to the various stakeholders as per Programme Office, P.I, Government Department and Unit Requirements
- Create and maintain channels of regular communication (reports, meetings, and social media) with the respective managers and the Syndicate Head
- Reports are to be completed timeously and through the various stakeholders
- Lead Cross-functional teams in a manner that promotes productivity within the projects
- Provide sound coaching and empowering of the respective teams as skills needs and/or deficiencies are noted
- Mentor, coach and support subordinates and create an environment that promotes talent recognition and development
- Facilitate staff development both personal and professional
- Ensure all team members comply with the Time Sheet requirements of the project, timeously
- Ensure that leave is managed in accordance with the leave policies
- Ensure that documented staff performance discussions take place on a monthly basis for all direct reports
- Ensure that Performance Appraisal discussions are concluded annually
- Ensure that Corrective action is issued in line with the code of conduct and in consultation with the HR department as required
- Supervise and manage the duties of subordinates
- Perform and facilitate performance development and assessments
- Ensure that all employees are developed to their full potential
- Take ownership and accountability for tasks & activities and demonstrates effective self-management
- Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
- Inform relevant parties in the event of tasks or deadlines not being met and provides appropriate means of resolution

**Required minimum education and training**:

- **Medical Degree or equivalent**

**Required minimum work experience**:

- **5 year
