Project Manager: Maternal and Child Health

**Location**:Eastern Cape - East London
**Duration of Contract**: 5-year fixed term contract
**Main purpose of the job** To provide technical assistance, facility-based quality improvement and mentoring to ensure provision of healthcare services for prevention of vertical transmission of HIV and paediatric paediatric cascade. The incumbent will provide supervision of staff and provision of logistics and planning support for the related services. The incumbent will monitor and report on the implementation of program activities with regards to prevention of vertical transmission of HIV and paediatric cascade partner coordination. The incumbent will be a lliaison with internal and external stakeholders and support capacity-building activities for facility HIV services/activities.
**Key performance areas** - High degree of resilience to accommodate rapidly changing expectations, plans and deliverables. - Support district Managers with coordination of successful design, implementation and strengthening of Prevention of vertical transmission of HIV and Paediatrics HIV cascade activities to ensure that the programmes meet set targets in accordance with national and PEPFAR standards. - Undertake analysis key medical, social science and programme data for up-to date implementation of effective and high impact services for prevention of vertical transmission of HIV and Paediatrics - Keep abreast of changes in maternal and child health affecting programmes and ensure that all organizational policies, procedures and SOPS are updated accordingly. - Oversee, Develop, review, and ensure implementation of maternal and child health programme policies, procedures and guidelines. - Excellent report writing and presentation skills. - Monitor performance and implementation of the WPs and develop action plan to control risks and address challenges aligned with guideline and document best practices. - Build capacity for quality improvement in maternal and childcare through training, on-site coaching and support supervision. - Support the development of systems for continuous learning, quality improvement methods and tools.
**Required minimum education, training, and technical support. **- Diploma/Degree in General Nursing - NIMART certificate - A valid unendorsed driver’s license.
**Professional body registration** - Current registration with applicable statutory professional body.
**Minimum work experience** - Minimum three years working experience public/private (NGO) sector experience, - Minimum three years working in middle or senior management role. - Minimum three years working experience providing management support for HIV management in maternal and child health programs. - Experience in program planning, management, and implementation, including experience with the provision of focused maternal and child health services within the HIV and TB programme. - Experience developing SOPs and creating programme tools.
**Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities** - MBCHB - Knowledge of HIV and TB - Knowledge of differentiated models of care - Knowledge of HIV guidelines and protocols - Excellent time management skills - Supervision and good group management skills - Good written and verbal communication skills - Ability to manage and resolve conflict. - Facilitation skills and able to work independently. - Report writing and interpersonal skills. - Strong administrative and planning skills - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Proficiency in English & isiXhosa - Professionalism, customer centered. - Ability to work under pressure and in a diverse environment. - Ability to work independently in a resource limited setting, as well as in a team environment. - Attention to detail. - Self-motivation with high regard for excellence, work ethic, values and integrity.
