Commercial and Financial Analyst

**Job title: Commercial & Financial Analyst (Planning & Reporting) FMCG**

**Location: Johannesburg (Woodmead)**

**Terms: Fixed-term (12 months)**

**Salary: R600k - R660k CTC per annum**

**About the role**: The Commercial & Financial Analyst provides financial expertise to the company to facilitate sound business decision-making of company initiatives and thereby enhancing the profitability of the business.

The Commercial Financial Analyst prepares and submits all corporate financial reporting including but not limited to:
budget, quarterly forecasts and annual operating plan (AOP) accurately and within deadlines communicated by the

Commercial Head, analyses and investigates all financial related data, compile reports and presentations to support the Commercial Head and the greater team, provides appropriate reporting and analysis to support a business deck, senior management decisions and meetings, S&OP process meetings etc.

**Responsibilities**:

- To work together with the Sales and Marketing functions of the business to drive financial performance.
- To work in conjunction with the Commercial Head to ensure proper business support and commercial analysis is provided to Marketing and Sales in terms of business understanding and reporting including: Analysis of all marketing-related spending on all key accounts and to understand each line item pertaining to total marketing spend.
- Required to do a gap analysis of budget vs actual spending
- Responsible to create tracker for each activity spend.
- Provide adequate visibility and understanding behind the Brand and Sales P&L.
- To manage and track the budgets and actuals of sales and marketing in conjunction with the Sales and Marketing Managers.
- To provide monthly valuations of products that are used in the monthly update of forecasts.
- Conduct analysis of customer opportunities and perform investigative work on specific challenges which may arise.
- Implement, monitor and manage internal controls with regards to recording and accounting of Sales and Marketing budgets and actuals.
- To work on best practice reporting initiatives and automation projects that will add value to the business.
- To complete month-end processes related to Sales and Marketing spend.
- Highlight risks and opportunities within the business.
- Planning:

- Participates in the development of financial tools, processes and skills to enhance effectiveness and improve financial understanding of activities including:

- Business Scorecards & Decks
- Business Effectiveness Models
- Budgeting & Forecasting tools
- Management of a fully functional Finance & Business Calendar
- Analysis and Reporting:

- Preparing and completing Business Decks for monthly results, quarterly forecasts and Budget
- Preparing and completing local and HQ required presentations
- Assists in running effective month-end processes, preparing ad-hoc journals and preparing month-end reporting templates and analysis
- Reviewing allocated Balance Sheet Reconciliations to ensure no unrecorded risks exists and timely clearing of reconciling items.
- Performs regular audits on overhead spend to ensure accuracy and effectiveness of expenditure and accruals.

Provide pre
- and -post project financial evaluation of Improvement initiatives
- Monitors and analyses risks and opportunities identified during the planning process.
- Prepares all data, presentations and other requirements as dictated by the Business planning process.
- Compliance:

- Ensures that all team members are made aware of policies and procedures, expense reports and office standards
- Ensures Supplier agreements accuracy in reporting systems
- Preparing related and appropriate Processes and SOPs, reviewing existing Processes and SOPs, training users of the processes and ensuring compliance
- Financial & administration:

- Ensures all year end activities are planned and executed on time
- Assists the Financial accounting team during the annual year end process with related financials
- Provides support to the Financial Business Partners
- Assists the Commercial Head with ad-hoc project work
- Liaises with External auditors regarding related financial issues
- B Com Honours Degree majoring in Accounting or a C.I.M.A, coupled with 1-2 years’ experience in a financial position in an FMCG environment, preferably within a Planning & Reporting financial analysis role.
- Database development & management experience
- Advanced Excel (Database, Pivot, Macro etc.) and PowerPoint experience
- Finance policies and procedures
- Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking required

Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: R600,000.00 - R650,000.00 per year
