Supply Chain Manager

Applications are invited for the above-indicated vacancy within Newzroom Afrika. The supply chain manager will report directly to the CFO and forms part of the finance department.
Job purpose

The supply chain manager is accountable for ensuring effective and efficient management of supply chain value chain and travel in line with the group policies. Developing key sourcing strategies, leading long-term supplier negotiations and leading/executing key projects to meet Ngwato Nkosi Group sourcing and performance goals.

**Key responsibilities**:
Develop and implement supply chain strategies to reduce costs and improve efficiencies;
Develop, review and update SCM policies and Group Travelling and Subsistence Allowance Policy;
Developing necessary quality and supplier control procedures and associated documentation;
Responsible for the execution of the B-BBEE strategy;
Manage and oversee travelling booking;
Manage and lead the team
Compile reports as and when required;
Strategise, research, develop and review appropriate supply chain systems, processes and adopt best practices;
Develop, implement and monitor the BEE strategic initiatives of the business and produce reports accordingly;
Analyse qualitative and quantitative data required to formulate a strategic supply chain plan;
Assess strategic sourcing opportunities through data gathering and analysis;
Budgeting and financial planning for all supply chain requirements;
Monitor the timeous renewal of contracts prior to contract expiry date and the development of new contracts to ensure contract close-out, extension or renewal takes place;
**Supplier Performance Monitoring**: Lead the evaluation of suppliers on a quarterly and/or annual basis to discuss supplier performance and compliance issues
Shortlist potential vendors and invite to briefings (Conditions, plant visits, scope of work, deadlines etc);
Manage supplier database;
Negotiate pricing with suppliers;
Approve orders with suppliers for products and services required;
Conduct on-site supplier audits and inspections;
Working closely with suppliers to ensure orders are delivered on time and in full to agreed specification to avoid disruptions to the business;
Assessing future needs for new products and IT systems;
Identify process bottlenecks and implement solutions in a timely manner;
Monitor compliance with legislation and industry standards, in all supply chain activities
Maintains ongoing program to identify secondary and more cost-effective sources;
Ensure that company assets are always adequately insured;
Conduct constant research to identify suitable suppliers and make recommendations;
Manage individual and team performance;
Monitor and evaluate team members against performance standards;
Mentor individuals to enhance the individual’s knowledge, skills, values and attitudes.

**Skills and competencies**:
Knowledge of ICT sourcing.
Sound knowledge of accounting practices as applied to procurement procedures.
Postgraduate degree (Commerce or equivalent);
Six years relevant experience in supply chain of which three years should have been at a mid-management level;
Knowledge and experience in external audit processes;
Experience in SAGE Evolution, Advantageous.
Experience in ICT procurement, Advantageous.
