We are looking to appoint a Butcher man (Blockman) in our Retail Department. You will report to the Retail Supervisor. You will fulfil the necessary requirements within the Department to meet the Company’s objectives by making sure products are cut in a cost effective and accurate manner.

**KEY JOB FUNCTIONS**:

- Your main task will include ensuring portion control.
- Ensure minimum waste with portion control and correct packaging.
- Accurately cutting, trimming, debone and grinding of meats.
- Prepare special cuts of meat, ordered by customers.
- Correct weighing, pricing and labelling.
- Vacuum packing and putting it out for display on sales floor.
- Rotating stock on a regular basis.
- Checking food sell by and expiry dates.
- Perform quality inspections on meat daily.
- Traceability of products by updating cutting schedule file daily.
- Complying with all required standards such as Health & Safety, Food standards.
- Correct cleaning of equipment.
- Providing excellent customer service.
- Stock take and check stock levels - inform supervisor when low.
- Ensure hygiene and housekeeping.
- Clean as you go, production area to be kept clean.
- Personal hygiene.
- Wearing of correct uniform.
- Adhoc duties.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**:

- Matric with additional certificate in basic meat preparation or related field.
- 3 years’ experience in related field.
- Must have a driver’s licence.
- Must have a good understanding of stock take.
- Retail environment experience advantageous.
- Good communication skills both verbal and written.
- Able to work weekends and overtime.
- Ability to work under pressure.
