**JOB DESCRIPTION**

Under the supervision of a registered Medical Technician/Medical Technologist carrying out the normal duties and functions which occur within a professional laboratory service.
- Ensure processing of samples received from various sites, under the supervision of a registered Medical Technician/Medical Technologist.
- Responsible for the daily routine work in the Molecular Laboratory in order to achieve efficient and cost -effective service.
- Accountable for basic lab duties.
- Record temperature of the room and fridges, with corrective actions when required.
- Maintenance on all equipment used for analysis, ensuring all controls and calibrations are done on all relevant equipment.
- Adhere to Quality and Safety requirements.
- Good Housekeeping and Health and Safety
- Reagent preparation when necessary.
- Stock ordering
- Report all malfunctions to the laboratory manager.
- Decontamination of all equipment and bench tops.
- Ensure that relevant protocols are followed.

**Requirements**:

- BSC degree or any Science related degree (Biochemistry, Microbiology or Molecular)
- Good planning and attention to detail
- Able to work Independently.
- Computer literate (MS package)
- Perform after hours, shift duties, weekend work and public holidays. (own transport)
