Payroll and Benefits Consultant

The payroll and benefits consultant handles the payroll and benefits for all staff within the Cape Town office, with the support of external accountants (BAN) and outsourced payroll company, Ergonomix.
Position**: Payroll and Benefits Consultant**
Reporting to**: Head of People and Development**
**Key accountability areas**:
- Liaising with all stakeholders
- Loading new starters and leavers
- Updating salaries and bank details
- Liaising with employees re: maternity and paternity leave
- Preparing all UIF documents and maternity/paternity schedules
- Meeting with employees to guide them through new medical aid and pensions
- Preparing all documentation for payroll and benefits
- Liaising with employees on payroll and benefits matters
- Loading changes to pension on Liberty portal
- Loading changes to medical aid on Discovery portal
- Collating and checking operational input and loading onto ZETA
- Running payroll clinic and making necessary adjustments
- Checking all invoices against and statements of account against actuals
- Balancing wage recons monthly wage reports and invoices
- General filing
- Maintaining annual leave balances and preparing reports
- Updating HRC and HRM on activities daily
- Processing WSP and ATR submissions
- Invoicing and purchasing (quotes, order, deliver)
- Adhere strictly to processes and deadlines
- Liaise with all service providers and co-ordinate invoices and payments
- Maintain petty cash
**Skills and Qualifications**
- Approximately 5 years’ experience processing payroll and benefits (medical aid and pension) from start to finish in medium to large business - call center would be ideal
- Exceptional mathematics and calculation skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Business acumen
- Tax and payroll compliance knowledge
- Good communication skills
- Ability to problem solve
- Sense of urgency and ability to work to deadlines and under pressure
- Multitasking abilities
- Relevant qualification advantageous
Days of work: Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm
Special arrangements: Ability to work in a hybrid approach (good internet connectivity and privacy when WFH)
Not negotiable:
We need someone who has a thorough understanding of the technical and financial terminology relating to payroll, benefits and tax. Attention to detail is crucial and the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with all role-players.
