Development Dfe Instructor

**Job Purpose**:
The Development DFE Instructor is appointed by the Manager of Flight Operations to undertake specific training duties that include Classroom and CBT Training, Flight Training Device Training, Fixed Base Simulator Training, Full Flight Simulator Training, LOFT/LOS Training, Aeroplane Base Training, Pilot License and Qualification Assessments as well as Aeroplane Route Training (Initial Operating Experience) in support of the SAA Aviation Training Organisation and towards his/ her personal development as an instructor.. The incumbent where qualified will be involved with training projects and attend annual training standardisation meetings as and when required.
The incumbent will carry out normal flying duties as a Captain or Co -pilot.
**Principal Accountabilities**:
- Recommends and standardises policies, processes and systems to support implementation of the strategy
- Drive profitability in activities performed for the Company
- Identify initiatives in alignment with business requirements and strategic objectives and plan budget specifically in activities performed for the Company
- Successfully complete any/ all training provided by the Company
- Manage and maintain processes to deliver customer value

- Manage effective internal and external stakeholder relationships through appropriate relationship building and networking
- Participate in regular and timeous reporting of information relating to personal progress
- Participate in continuous optimisation programmes & initiatives for the Flight Operations & ATO divisions where requested to do so by the designated mentor instructor and/ or Chief Flying Instructor
- Participate in projects to contribute to the optimisation of the Flight Operations division where requested to do so by the designated mentor instructor, Chief Flying Instructor and/ or Chief Pilot
- Attend the training standardization meetings as requested by the designated mentor instructor and/ or Chief Flying Instructor to further personal development
- Participate in the completion, review and update of training courses and materials where requested to do so by the designated mentor instructor and/ or Chief Flying Instructor
- Complete or achieve satisfactory progress on the required outcomes of training projects as assigned by the designated mentor instructor and/ or Chief Flying Instructor
- Conduct training sessions and complete various checks (if applicable)
- Ensure customer satisfaction through feedback forms and reports submitted to the the designated mentor instructor and/ or Chief Flying Instructor
- Instruct on theoretical knowledge and give flight instruction on simulators
- Train CRM skills (classroom & simulator) where requested to do so by the designated mentor instructor and/ or Chief Flying Instructor once appropriate CRM facilitation skills have been acquired as part of the development training programme
- Optimise the division’s capability and competence to enable achievement of objectives of Flight Operations, ATO and the Airline overall
- Drives and supports people development initiatives
- Manages personal performance to optimise efficient use of talent
- Implements change initiatives with the vision and strategic direction of the Airline
- Lives and role models the Airline’s Values
**Qualifications & Experience**:
- Holding a flight instructor rating and a background in flight training will be an advantage
- Be willing to work towards qualifying as a DFE during his/her tenure in this position
- Shall have an unblemished training record in the preceding 24 months
- Pass all required training and assessments for the normal pilot without additional training required
- Hold an ATPL
**Knowledge and Skills**:
- Comprehensive knowledge of South African Civil Aviation Regulations, inclusive of Part 61 and 121 and the relevant training manuals
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of national and international aviation regulations such as CAA, ICAO, IATA, FAA, EASA, etc.
- Technical standards necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of this role
- Must be familiar with the SAA’s Cooperate Quality System and Safety Management System
