Senior Software Tester

**Main purpose of the job**:
As an experienced and highly detail-oriented Senior Software Tester, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products through both manual and automated testing. You will play a pivotal role in promoting automation best practices across the team, driving efficiency and consistency. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and execute tests, while also mentoring and guiding junior testers to help foster their growth and expertise. This is a hybrid role with the expectation of meeting in the office in Westville once or twice a week for team meetings. You are required to have your own internet connection as well as your own laptop in order to fulfil the requirements of this role.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Test Design & Execution**:
- Develop, design, and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts for both manual and automated testing.
- Collaborate with software developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand system requirements and user stories.
- Perform functional, regression, performance, integration, and system tests to ensure software meets specified requirements and quality standards.
- **Test Automation**:
- Write, maintain, and execute automated tests using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Appium, or similar.
- Implement and improve automated test frameworks and libraries.
- Identify areas for automation and continuously improve test coverage and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot automation failures analyze root causes, and drive resolution.
- **Mentoring & Leadership**:
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior software testers and quality assurance team members.
- Review and critique test strategies, automation scripts, and test case designs to ensure quality and alignment with project goals.
- **Continuous Improvement**:
- Advocate for a culture of continuous testing and quality in the development lifecycle.
- Identify opportunities for improving testing efficiency, tools, and processes.
- Keep up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies in software testing and automation.
- **Reporting & Documentation**:
- Document detailed test results, track defects, and report on testing progress to stakeholders.
- Contribute to improving documentation standards and ensuring all test cases and scripts are well-documented.

**Requirements**:

- Gr.12 School Leaving Certificate.
- IT qualification (Diploma/Degree).
- ISTQB Foundation certificate plus ISTQB Agile Foundation level is a minimum requirement.
- Previous experience in a Senior Testing role, overseeing a team of testers.
- Test Automation Engineer Certification is a bonus
- Other relevant certifications in software testing and automation is a bonus.
- Well-demonstrated and presented knowledge of software testing, with a strong focus on both manual and automated testing.
- Proven experience in developing and executing automated test scripts using modern test automation tools.
- Extensive experience working in Agile development environments (Scrum, Kanban, etc.).
- Proficiency with automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Appium, JUnit, TestNG, or similar.
- Strong understanding of test automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and version control systems like Git.
- Familiarity with programming/scripting languages such as C#, Python, JavaScript, or similar.
- Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), testing methodologies, and best practices.
- Strong leadership and mentorship skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly document and present test results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong collaboration and team-working abilities.
