**Duties & Responsibilities**:
The SHE Intern is to ensure that Thorburn adheres to legal standards, company
- and Group policies, Security, Health & Safety, quality, and ISO compliance. The job holder will be responsible for enforcing regulations in most aspects and levels of business as well as provide guidance on compliance matters. The goal is to preserve the company’s integrity by making sure it stays on a lawful and ethical course.

The exclusions of responsibility in terms of Thorburn’s compliance for the SHE Intern is Firearm Compliance and PSIRA Compliance. The appointed Firearm compliance officer and regional HRM will be responsible for these matters respectively.

The SHE Intern will coordinate and champion the ISO integrated management system for Thorburn at Regional level.

**Skills and Competencies**:

- Working knowledge of ISO 18788:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018.
- Knowledge of OHS Act, PSIRA, Firearms Control Act, POPI and relevant regulations.
- Good comprehension of risk assessment methodology and risk mitigating controls.
- Writing of Safe operating procedures and SHE system procedures.
- Conducting safety talks and awareness programmes.
- Driving Safe behavioural observations programme.
- Conduct SHE internal audits and inspections.
- Conduct incident investigation. To have good problem-solving skills.
- Ensure monthly communication boards are updated and drive weekly SHE toolbox talks.
- Basic computer literacy, i.e.: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Collecting and Analysis of SHE data.
- Participate in Emergency Drills.
- Contractor Safety Management.
- Prepare Safety Files.
- Involvement in SHE Audits & Inspections.
- SHE Trainings and Awareness Campaigns.
- Involvement in problem solving using the WHY analysis technique.
- Involvement in Incident Investigations.
- Review SHE Procedures.
- Review Standard Operating Procedure.
- Conduct Planned Job Observations (PJOs/PTOs).
- Security requirements according to PSIRA.

**Qualifications**:

- Relevant Diploma in Safety Management/ Risk (Completed) Non-negotiable.
- PSIRA Registration advantageous.
- Samtrac/NEBOSH advantageous.
- Requiring 12-months-service contract.
- No experience required.
