- Key Responsibilities:
**_1. Managing Production Output _**
- 1.1 Ensure production schedules (MPS) are met by:

_liaising with Supply chain and Business development manager regarding customer demand. _

_planning and scheduling the pacer plan in line with the MPS and any changes in customer demand. _
Ø
_revise priorities based on communicated customer backlogs and priorities. _
Ø
_Communicating planning schedules effectively with Value stream supervisors (VSS). _
Ø Completing planned production on time.
- 1.2 Re-schedule production based on re-prioritising urgent orders, unforeseen plant/component breakdowns or shortages etc. by liaising with Supply chain Manager and discussing changed production schedules with the VSS’s. _
- 1.3 Monitor production progress by discussing production plan achievement with VSS’s daily. Follow up actions through daily minuted production meetings. _
- 1.4 Identify production problems and discuss possible solutions VSS’s to achieve plan achievement. _
- 1.5 Monitor production output daily and implement actions to improve performance should performance vary from accepted production levels. _
- 1.6 Develop medium to long term actions to improve production performance, and reduce_
- variability through a process of continuous improvement. _
**_2 Quality _**
- 2.1 Ensure that acceptable quality levels are maintained according to acceptable standards, by -. _
Ø Ensuring that employees are trained and aware of standards required.
Ø Motivate employees to improve quality of products in manufacturing.
Ø
_Review and implement corrective actions to eliminate quality deficiencies by reviewing rejects, rework and customer returns daily. _
Ø
_Institute corrective actions timeously to prevent possible losses to the company and disruptions to customers. _
Ø
_Hold daily production meetings to discuss quality concerns and corrective actions. _
Ø
_Develop actions to reduce reject, rework and customer return rates with a focus on employee Involvement and development of a positive quality culture. _
- 2.2 Develop effective procedures and instructions in the areas under your control to ensure the effective management of the production conversion processes in line with ISO 9000 QMS requirements. This include but are not limited to: _
- Standard operating instructions (SOP’s)for all operations under your control.
- Departmental work instructions.
- Direct reports job descriptions.
**_3 Condition of Plant Equipment and Safety of Employees _**
- 3.1 Plan and implement preventive maintenance on all key equipment with a view to improving plant reliability and safety. _
- 3.2 Ensure that routine daily, weekly and monthly maintenance is conducted on all equipment and moulds to ensure optimal performance and to reduce possible long term damages. _
- 3.3 Ensure immediate attention is given to breakdowns of plant and equipment. _
- 3.4 Review ongoing performance of plant and report on situations, which hinder production performance or endanger the safety of employees. _
- 3.5 Stop the use of any equipment, which would endanger the safety of employees. Ensure that all safety equipment and guarding are effective and are used by employees at all times. _
- 3.6 Ensure that safety representatives complete regular monthly reports. Review and approve safety representative report ensuring that appropriate action is taken. Submit reports and actions to the safety committee. Report and take actions on any other issue that may endanger the safety of employees. _
- 3.7 Maintain an acceptable level of house keeping within the departments under your control with the effective introduction of the cleaning and organising module in the WPC program. _
- 3.8 Perform all responsibilities as a delegated person in terms of Section 16.2 of the Health and Occupational Safety Act._
- 3.9 Ensure that all employees are trained and aware of the safety hazards in the jobs, which they perform. Ensure that such training specific to each job is contained in the SOP and signed off by each operator as evidence of such training being completed. _
**_4 Financial controls and budgets. _**
- 4.1 Measure performance against budget, investigate and follow up on areas of poor performance. Implement actions to improve budgetary performance. _
- 4.2 Develop and implement action plans to reduce costs and improve control on consumable items. _
- 4.4 Control labour costs by controlling overtime and maintaining production efficiencies, at acceptable standards. _
- 4.5 Develop actions to reduce scrap, wastage and rework levels in production, thus reducing costs and improving efficiencies. _
