**PRODUCTION MANAGER**

DUTIES:

- Manage a team of up to operators spread across up to 4 shifts, which each shift including production supervisor(s) and team leader(s) in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Create and maintain contingency plans in the event of interruptive production
- Manage use of raw materials to meet production targets as set out in weekly forecasts in conjunction with Factory Manager and Managing Director.
- Manage compliance of safety standards in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Manage plant loading and ramp up production to ensure the plant is operating at required capacity.
- Manage customer and internal quality standards, liaising with Quality Manager.
- implement the standard operating procedures
- training of operators as required and ensure that the Skills Matrix is updated regularly
- communication between the plant and management.
- daily reporting structures to the factory Manager.
- Overall responsibility for ensuring accurate capturing and for signing off the Time & Attendance of Production employees, including managing their leave.
- Monitor reasons for absenteeism and sickness and minimize the impact on production, liaising with the HR Manager.
- Maintain transparent communication down to the production staff and up to senior management regarding production activities and company communications.
- Responsible for ensuring cleanliness and 5S (Sort, Set, Shine, Standardise, Sustain) in all production areas.
- Prepare the production areas for factory inspections and audits (such as SABS, TUV, customer visits).
- Liaise with the Warehouse Manager and Factory Manager to ensure a smooth supply of raw materials to the production line.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

- 5 years production management experience
- Technical tertiary qualification in the field of Engineering or Operations Management
- High school certificate with good results in maths and one of the sciences (e.g. physics, biology, chemistry)
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar with experience in ensuring a plant is prepared for external audits
- Competence with Visual Performance Management and Manufacturing Execution Systems
- Competence with the analytics and forecasting of production statistics
- Experience using quality methodologies (such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, TPS) would be advantageous
- Computer literate with good experience with spreadsheets.
- Fluent in English. Competence in Zulu would be advantageous.
- Excellent managerial skills.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems and standards.
- To be on standby at any point when production is running to aid in resolving issues beyond the capacity of the Production Supervisor on duty.

**Salary**: Up to R20,000.00 per month
