Are you registered as a Gas Practitioner? Competent and legally permitted to work safely on gas and gas systems, and to manage the maintenance and operations of Gas Fire Boilers for a hazardous chemical manufacturing plant?
Our client is a strategic partner in energy management to major blue-chip companies. Operates and maintains their clients’ energy and utility plants. The primary focus of the business is on the management of energy plants in the form of boiler houses with varying forms of fuel (Biomass to Coal), focused on uptime and efficiency of the various plants. They work with a number of different industrial plants nationally to improve the operational efficiency and reliability. Specializing in a number of boiler ranges, from multifuel boilers to various boiler designs.
**Position details**:
Type: Fixed term contract (site based)
Reports to: Maintenance Manager
Primary purpose: To be the registered Gas Practitioner to be permanently based on site to manage the gas fired boilers for one of their clients. This is a fixed term contract to take responsibility for the operation, maintenance, and management of boilers.
Job description / core competencies:
Performance of planned & unplanned maintenance activities as directed: Maintenance on boilers and auxiallary equipment; attend to breakdowns on boilers; perform daily inspections on boilers and scheduled checks; attend standby duties and all breakdowns; boilers inspection and inspect all related equipment to minimize breakdowns; perform maintenance on boilers during plant shutdowns; observing boiler and auxiliary units to detect malfunctions and makes repairs, such as changing burners and tightening pipes and fittings.
Assisting with and performance of identified project activities as directed;
3. Reporting on maintenance, project & safety activities performed;
4. Compliance to required safety systems and protocols: Uphold ISO standards; Practise good housekeeping principles.
**Location (country, city)**:East Rand, Gauteng_Job Qualification & Experience:
Must be a registered and valid Gas Practitioner with SACGA;
Qualified as a Millwright or Mechanical Fitter or a related trade
A minimum of 5 years of mechanical maintenance work experience.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Computer literate and proficient in the MS Office Suite;
Must be willing to work shifts and overtime as and when required.
Must be willing to be on standby on weekends and public holidays.
