**Introduction** Komatsu South Africa is seeking an experienced and dedicated Production Planning Officer to join our Remanufacturing division in Germiston. This role is crucial for ensuring efficient production planning and adherence to safety standards within our operations. **Qualifications & Experience**: **Education**: - Diploma (NQF 6) with Maintenance Planning/Materials Resource Planning/Supply Chain Management (essential) - B. Tech (NQF 7) - Technical field or supply chain (advantage) **Experience**: - Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Production Planning. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. - Experience with SAP. **Specific Experience**: - Repair and Maintenance Planning experience - Komatsu Product knowledge or Heavy Earth Moving/ Mining equipment is preferable - Experience of automated scheduling tools in an engineering environment is essential **Key Responsibilities**: - As a Production Planning Officer, you will play a vital role in both operational planning and maintaining a strong safety culture. Your responsibilities will include:_ **Production Planning & Management**: - **Develop and optimize plans**: Plan for component exchange, incorporate into overall production plans, and develop/run "what if" scenarios for conditions-based monitoring to mitigate risks. - **Maintain planning systems**: Regularly maintain and update the production plan, ensuring responsibility for backing up and updating all planning systems and manual data files. - **Drive continuous improvement**: Provide input and attend Hansei meetings, proposing and implementing initiatives for Remanufacturing. - **Manage forecasts and sourcing**: Develop and maintain a customer component forecast database and liaise with KLTD or other global suppliers regarding component sourcing. - **Monitor and report performance**: Flag deviations from the plan, communicate timeously with Management, monitor production costs and efficiencies, and ensure timely completion of tasks by following up on deadlines. - **Streamline operations**: Develop and disseminate templates for technical lines of business to streamline their work, and transfer planning and scheduling skills/knowledge. - **Analyze and propose improvements**: Print reports on metrics, costs, efficiencies, downtime, and trends for parts and components exchange. Analyze report information, correlating it with other systems (e.g., SAP, Komtrax) to propose changes and continuous improvement initiatives. - **Manage components and cores**: In conjunction with Remanufacturing management, plan and forecast remanufactured components and cores, and execute/update these plans. - **Maintain databases and liaise**: Maintain the Core Tracker database, liaise with internal stakeholders (PDC, Branches, Technical Management, Finance, etc.), monitor and check system data for integrity, and maintain an up-to-date plan. - **Issue resolution**: Report problems and issues immediately. **Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Adherence**: - **Ensure safety compliance**: Remain up to date with all safety procedures, adhere strictly to SHE policies, and ensure compliance with protective gear and clothing. - **Active participation**: Participate actively in workplace safety events. - **Emergency preparedness**: Stay informed about emergency first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and evacuation procedures.
