The IIE enjoys the reputation of being at the forefront of private higher education in South Africa and is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) to provide higher education qualifications accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE).

**The IIE Varsity College, has a vacancy for Deputy Academic Operations Manager.**

**NB. This position may be based at the Durban National or Cape Town National Office.**

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Management of academic operations across qualifications and all modes of delivery**
- Ensures that all key deliverables for the Programme Operations Managers are met in line with academic operations processes and policies.
- Ensures that the brands procedures and processes, and Independent Institute for Education (IIE) requirements are understood and carried out across all The IIE's Varsity College, IIE MSA and IIE
- Manages and sets out all academic administrative processes, e.g. student induction, academic calendars, timetabling, assessment dates, moderation, student support initiatives and results.
- Guides and supports the operational teams on campuses to ensure that national interventions and initiatives are implemented on campus in line with academic policies and procedures.
- Manages phase-out qualifications, communication, tracking thereof.
- Managing escalation on student and parent query resolution in line with the IIE policies
- Participate in training programmes and initiatives and provide input to relevant IIE Policy changes and Business Application.
- Support the campuses with first line escalation of all Business Application system queries.

**Management of academic operations to drive student support**
- Works with the Academic Manager / T&L Manager / Academic Support Manager and the broader Academic and Operations team to ensure that there is synergy between operational delivery.
- Works closely with the Heads of School/Programme Navigator in operationalizing all academic interventions and initiatives.
- Prepares and manages student communication where required in ensuring students understanding of policy and processes which support student success.
- Managing changes within the brand as required.
- Working closely with campus teams to ensure a scalable approach within Academic Operations which will gear for growth and ensuring operational capacity at all times.
- Implementing systems and training for clear understanding of the brand PIPO plan and student progression from registration, retention to graduation.
- Working closely with IIE CAT in ensuring campuses receive the necessary resources required for planning of teaching and assessment timetables. This must be done timeously.
- Understanding assessment challenges before during and post assessment to assess areas of improvement for future assessment delivery.
- Ensuring systems are in place in ensuring timeous delivery of material from the IIE CAT and external providers like Wize Books.
- Link between campus at IIE CAT on all academic operation processes of assessment, material, moderation and result release
- Working closely with the IIE CAT Operations Manager in limiting access to systems to reduce risk of assessment breach.

**Brand IIE compliance management**
- Represents the Brand on IIE Committees, e.g. Faculty Board, Teaching and Learning, Senate and Brand Academic Committees to ensure compliance of all IIE regulations on campus.
- Ensures that IIE requirements for sites of delivery are being adhered to on the campuses, e.g audit functions, compliance checks.
- Working closely with IIE CAT in ensuring campuses receive the necessary resources required for planning of teaching and assessment timetables. This must be done timeously

**Reports & Other**
- Facilitates continuous communication with the IIE CAT and AIT to ensure optimum delivery across campuses.
- Complies with The Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) legislation relevant to the Admission Centre.
- Performs other ad hoc administrative and/or reporting duties as and when required.

**Minimum Qualification Requirements**:

- Advanced Diploma or Degree (NQF Level 7) advantageous.

**Minimum Work Experience Requirements**:

- Minimum of 2 years academic operations experience.
