**The main purpose of this position**:
To provide medical support to Sports team within the prescribed scope of practice and within the rules and guidelines of the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA), and World medical and safety policies

**Duties & Responsibilities include**:
**(But are not limited to)**

Provide documented and recorded medical assessment of players on the Athlete management system according to the record keeping requirements as stipulated by the HPCSA before, during, and post any training camp/ competition/ tour
To keep accurate records of all player assessments and consultations
Provide medical feedback to players and coach, highlighting risk areas and coming up with interventions
Effectively attending to injuries on the field play
Compiling and providing full report on players following camps/ tournaments/ tours to Medical Manager and Senior Provincial Union team doctor or physiotherapist
To provide relevant education regarding concussion to all team players and management
To provide relevant education on any medical issue that may be pertinent at the time e.g., COVID-19 education
To oversee the use of nutritional supplements, in conjunction with a registered dietician
To complete the injury management request form before sending a player for injury investigation or management. To ensure that players injured on tour are duly reported to the injury travel insurance company
Stock management of all medical supplies
Responding to medical questions at media conferences

**Requirements**:
MBChb qualification
MPhil - Sports Medicine
Post graduate qualification in Emergency Trauma Medicine e.g. ATLS
Registered with HPCSA
Member of SAMSA
5 - 8 years’ years medical working experience - 3 of which should be directly involved with sporting teams,
