Reddam House Durbanville offers a co-educational, non-denominational, premier, private school environment recognizing, nurturing and developing the individuality of each student placed in our care and encouraging students to maximize their potential. Our school offers a dual curriculum, offering both Cambridge Assessment International and IEB education. We offer a premium education from 18 months to 19 years old, in the A Level post matric programme. Ideally located in Durbanville, Reddam House Durbanville seamlessly blends Boarding and Day schooling and takes pride in a bespoke learning approach, safeguarding and dedicated pastoral care.

We provide premium education from 1 – 2 years old to A Levels as a post-matric option, to families living in the leafy suburbs of Durbanville, Vredekloof, Welgedacht, Plattekloof, Blouberg, Tableview, West Beach, Melkbos, Kanonberg & Welgemoed.

ROLE SUMMARY:
Reddam House Durbanville, part of Inspired Education Group, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Sport to lead the strategic development and delivery of sport across the whole school. This pivotal role will shape the sporting vision, ensuring programmes are inclusive, aspirational, and aligned with Inspired's commitment to excellence.

The successful candidate will provide leadership and direction to all Heads of Sport and coaches, fostering a culture of achievement, teamwork, and personal growth through sport. This role demands strategic thinking, strong organisational ability, and the passion to inspire students to pursue excellence both on and off the field.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the strategic development of sport across the whole school, setting measurable goals for participation, performance, and growth.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and professional development for the Heads of Sport (Preparatory and College) and coaching teams.
  • Develop and oversee high-quality, progressive coaching programmes that promote skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Manage the planning and coordination of fixtures, tours, festivals, and inter-house events, ensuring smooth execution and meaningful experiences for all participants.
  • Oversee sports budgets, procurement, and equipment management to ensure resources are effectively allocated and maintained.
  • Partner with the Facilities team to ensure all sports facilities are well maintained and support the school's growth and performance ambitions.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and safeguarding policies across all sports programmes.
  • Monitor, review, and report on sports performance and participation metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, staff, and the broader community, promoting the values of respect, integrity, and inclusivity.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the school's sporting excellence, representing Reddam House Durbanville within the Inspired global network and local sporting community.
  • Contribute to school-wide initiatives and events, supporting the holistic education and development of students.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • A relevant degree and SACE accreditation, with certified coaching qualifications.
  • A minimum of three years' leadership experience in school or institutional sport, demonstrating success in building and sustaining high-performing teams.
  • Proven ability to coach and mentor others, inspiring both staff and students to achieve excellence.
  • Strong organisational, administrative, and budget management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with diverse stakeholders.
  • A deep understanding of child development, education, and the role of sport in building character and resilience.
  • Commitment to the values of sportsmanship, inclusion, and lifelong participation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and confidence with school systems and digital tools.
  • A proactive, resilient, and collaborative approach, with the flexibility to work evenings or weekends when required for fixtures and events.
