The above position has become available in our Research Department at our research facility outside Komatipoort. This person will assist breeders with the practical execution of their breeding programmes, as well as assisting the Farm manager with various tasks.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Field Assistant for the Squash Breeding Programme.
- Supervise planting process and field preparation.
- Supervise plant husbandry including irrigation, weed, insect, disease control and pollination.
- Supervise and execute data collecting and harvesting of plants.
- Ensure tasks are executed to a high standard of accuracy and research protocols.
- Oversee productivity of sub-ordinates and overall quality of work.
- The position will require travelling off-station from time to time.
- Working in an open-air environment directly exposed to weather conditions.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Fluent in English and Seswati
- Valid driver's license
- Matric with mathematics and biology, additional qualification in plant production will be an added advantage
- Preferably from the Lowveld surroundings
- Athletic and energetic persona with a clear interest in plants
- Any experience in vegetable growing with an emphasis on land preparation, irrigation, fertigation, weeding, and labour supervision will be an added advantage.
- Must be able to take responsibility to work independently, but also have compassion to lead a team of workers.
