**Introduction**
- The Portfolio Manager is responsible for new business development and the management of all existing cell captives in their portfolio. Additionally, the Portfolio Manager is responsible for marketing Guardrisk Microinsurance’s products and services to existing and prospective clients which includes the execution of new business transactions. The Portfolio Manager will need to ensure that all transactions for which they are responsible are successfully implemented and operate effectively post implementation.

**Role Purpose**
- The Portfolio Manager is responsible for new business development and the management of all existing cell captives in their portfolio. Additionally, the Portfolio Manager is responsible for marketing Guardrisk Microinsurance’s products and services to existing and prospective clients which includes the execution of new business transactions. The Portfolio Manager will need to ensure that all transactions for which they are responsible are successfully implemented and operate effectively post implementation.
**Requirements**:
- Relevant tertiary qualification: BCom; or similar
- FAIS Compliant
- RE5 and RE1 is advantageous
- At least 4 to 6 years’ experience in the financial services industry
- Life and non-life insurance technical knowledge and understanding would be preferred
- Client facing experience would be preferred
- Strong accounting and/or actuarial skills would be preferred
- Deal making experience would be preferred
**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Marketing Guardrisk Microinsurance to prospective new clients. This includes taking responsibility for the following functions with assistance from the larger team and technical areas
- Deal structuring
- Advising clients on operating models in an outsourced insurance value chain
- Taking clients through the Guardrisk Microinsurance new business process
- Preparing business cases for consideration at the Guardrisk Microinsurance New Business and Product Management Committees
- Identify and consult with prospective clients on their business goals to position Microinsurance as a commercial opportunity so that they can grow their revenue. This engagement encompasses the full insurance value chain; the strategic objectives of the target company and commercial structures
- Managing of opportunities from prospect to execution phase. This includes consulting with prospective clients to refine business cases (commercial viability; products etc.) and managing prospects through Guardrisk Microinsurance due diligence processes
- Collaborate with other business units, channels and segments in Guardrisk and the Momentum group to unlock synergies and create joint new business opportunities
- Reporting, tracking and analysis in respect of Guardrisk Microinsurance new business targets
- Keeping up to date with news, legislation and regulation in the Microinsurance market. Network on industry matters to facilitate knowledge share and input to clients on their insurance businesses
- Managing third-party cell captives, where products include, life and non-life products to the personal lines market as stipulated in the Guardrisk Microinsurance license conditions. The responsibilities include:
- Ensuring effective management of various stakeholders in the insurance value chain (cell owners, binder holders, intermediaries, consultants, reinsurers, administrators)
- Reviewing cells’ financial statements and managing revenue streams
- Preparing client reports which include information such as cell solvency, underwriting performance, etc
- Facilitating reinsurance renewals via the reinsurance department where applicable
- Ensuring compliance with market conduct standards and relevant legislative requirements
- Ensuring that legal contracting is correct, up to date and in place and tending to client queries
- Marketing and cross selling of Guardrisk Microinsurance’s products and services to existing clients
- Assisting clients with development of insurance products aimed at their customers
- Setting up internal processes for each client with all relevant internal technical areas such as finance, actuarial, underwriting, legal, risk and compliance
- Contribute to the enhancement and improvement of existing internal processes
- Assisting the Managing Executive with divisional reporting and represent Microinsurance when required. Keeping up to date with legislation and regulation in the Microinsurance insurance market
