**Role Purpose**

The purpose of the **Portfolio Manager role **is to** construct** investment portfolios to meet client’s investment mandate and requirements, considering both risk and return objectives.

**Experience and Qualifications**

**Qualifications**:

- Degree in Investments Management / Finance or BSc in Economics / Mathematics or equivalent
- Regulatory qualification either under FAIS or JSE to give advice and exercise discretion.
- CFA / CAIA qualification advantageous

**Experience**:

- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in client advice and intermediary services in financial services product categories (Level 1 and 2)
- Working experience in the Financial Planning industry with specific reference to the following fields: Long Term Insurance, Pension Benefits (Including Retail Pension Benefits),Securities and Instruments including but not limited to shares, money market instruments, bonds, Participatory interests in Collective Investment Schemes, Forex Investment Business, Long and Short Term Deposits
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in asset management / portfolio management.

**Duties & Responsibilities**

**Key Outputs**:

- **Management of investment Portfolios**:

- Manage investment portfolios based on client mandates and their requirements.
- Focus on day-to-day operational portfolio management and monitoring of investments.
- Manage and respond to compliance issues.
- Monitor portfolio risk and returns.
- A comprehensive understanding of markets, economics, company analysis and valuation.
- Review and implement recommendations.
- Foster effective working relationships and collaborate within the MMI Group (segments, internal and external stakeholders).
- Provide technical advice and expertise regarding the development of new investment products.
- To maintain and re-evaluate, as required, the investment and stock selection process
- Contribute to and manage the profitability of asset management.
- **Compliance and monitoring of transactions**:

- Ensure compliance with client mandates
- Identify areas of concern in operational, trading, and client relationships with the view to enhancing these.
- Ensure compliance with business standards, policies and internal controls associated with the role
- **Client Engagement**:

- Develop a close working relationship with Momentum securities’
- Provide authoritative, expertise and advice to clients and stakeholders.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients and internal and external stakeholders.
- Deliver on service level agreements made with internal and external stakeholders and clients.
- Make recommendations to improve client service levels.
- Participate and contribute to a culture which builds rewarding relationships, facilitates feedback and provides exceptional client service.
