Primary purpose: Inventory and Stores Management
Job description / core competencies:
Scope of work/KPAs:
Coordinate and supervise receiving and stores procedures
Approves requisitions to order supplies, materials and equipment from contracted vendors to maintain pre-determined minimum and maximum stock levels
Plans and oversees the conduct of physical inventories of stock items and property and reconciles with inventory records
Plan the stores layout and assign work according to volume, assignment, and individual skills and abilities
Oversees the maintenance of manual and computerized inventory records to track physical property, stock levels, and usage of consumable items
Reviews reports of missing physical property and prepares appropriate paperwork to document reduction of the company’s inventory
Attends meetings with vendors and suppliers
Monitors usage rate of supplies to identify opportunities to control expenditures
Oversees the salvage or disposal of obsolete and defective equipment and supplies
Set priorities, resolve problems and make decisions within general policy guidelines
Work independently, prioritize work, coordinate activities and meet critical deadlines
Collaborate with other managers to determine supply needs
Oversee distribution of supplies within the company.
Control inventory levels and ensure availability of material during emergencies
Analyse work procedures and make changes to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness
Assist in defining departmental objectives and set priorities for resources utilization
Develop effective policies and procedures for storekeeping operations
Implements and ensures appropriate storekeeping procedures are followed in the stocking of shelves, filling of supply orders and issuance of stock
Implements inventory procedures to effectively control and minimize the loss of physical property
Supervises staff engaged in the receipt, storage, inventorying and issuance of supplies, materials and equipment
Supervises staff engaged in receiving and inspecting ordered stock against invoices and receiving reports to ensure the accuracy of deliveries
Supervise, evaluate and coach subordinates and implement discipline when necessary
Plan, coordinate, assign, and review the work of subordinate staff
Oversees staff responsible for contacting vendors to resolve problems regarding received items that are damaged or incomplete and to obtain delivery information on supplies and equipment ordered
Trains subordinate personnel in inventory control and stores procedures

Minimum requirements:
Grade 12
3 years Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management
Minimum 3 years of working experience in a Mine or Smelter Stores
Minimum 3 years of experience in supply chain and inventory or store keeping control
Supervisory experience
